New Source Gets Paying Clients Without Turning You Into A Phone Whore

If Craigslists "rules" are hurting you, direct mail seems too risky and pounding the phone just plain sucks, then this "new" way of getting business owners calling you for your services just may be the answer.

It does mean investing small sums of money, never enough to miss out on your rent.

It only takes a few minutes to set up from your computer.

Only takes a few days to get your phone ringing.

Here's what it is, the lowly print Thrifty Nickel.

It is a rack newspaper where people pick it up to read ads.
Think of it like the offline Amazon.
People go and pick it up to see what they can buy.
Not to read news stories.

And they have a section for business services.

Go to http://www.advertisingresults.com/ then to the right red button you'll see Thrifty Nickel.
Click on it then scroll down to the bottom.

There you'll find all the small circular locations.

For $30 or under you can run a 25 word classified ad.

Register, click and buy.

Once you get the ad paying then you roll it out to other locations,
then State wide, then region, all costing you less per readership as you scale up.

Oh they also run it online too.

Here's the ad to go with it and the reason it is structured the way it is.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Business owner: This gets a steady flow of new customers without the risk of losing your shirt. Phone XX XXX XXX for your VIP application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Call out to the person you want to speak to.

The word "gets' implies it has already been done and no work, no risk.
Seen a split test where this little change from put to puts take the response rate up 400%.

Mentions 2 desires...new customers and a steady flow of them.
They don't like feast and famines.

People don't buy for one reason, perceived risk.

If you are in a room with a group of people and ask them what would stop them from hiring or buying a person/company and they will tell you the same things as another group, even in another country.

An example new home builders.
It's always over budget and late completion.

So this little ad says "without" then naming the perceived risk,
losing money.

And the call to action which implies there will be some qualification
as it does have privileges not available to others.
Players with money like that.

All that selling power within 23 words.

Go prosper!

    Ewen,

Excellent way to use those rags. Here in my neck of the woods the paper is called The Big Nickel. It is everywhere in Northern Nevada. People pick it up to read the ads. I've used it in reverse. I called the advertisers and sold some websites. So, it has two purposes.

Hi Ewen, this is good stuff. I've always heard that there were folks who got offline clients via classifieds and wondered how that worked.

So thank you for answering that question for me. Just out of curiosity, how many calls does the avg. ad generate for you?

No point in asking anybody their results.

What's important is getting your own numbers and adjust accordingly.

Remember when the calls come in,
you still have to sell them on your offer.

I would do it, but it isn't offered in Arizona. Maybe I can find something similar.

    Hi there,

    Here's another source:

American Classifieds / Thrifty Nickels Weekly Publications

Also, it appears this newspaper is a franchise-style operation, so if there's not one in your town, you could set up your own! Use all the remnant space for your own ads!

    All the best,

    Sasha.
