"Here's what to do when nothing is working to get clients..."

Hey,

For a long time now I've been preaching the wisdom of staying focused on one strategy or system until it's successful.

Some consultants have taken that principle and built steady $5,000-$15,000 per month consulting businesses with only one effective lead generation system that offers one service to one type of client.

But other consultants are still jumping all over the place trying to get six or seven lead generation systems set up all at once.

While at the same time trying to sell any and everything related to internet marketing and traditional marketing to any Tom, Dick or Harry business owner.

You can try to do that, but you're going to burn out in a few months because it's too much.

Maybe some consultants are that good, but the rest of us mere mortals will fall on our face.

More importantly, you'll start to doubt yourself and think there's something wrong with you.

You're okay. You can do this thing.

You just need to settle down and focus.

By the way, when you simplify your consulting practice down to a basic but successful system, it's liberating.

Your stress begins to dissolve and disappear because you're no longer struggling to figure out what to do next.

You know exactly what you should be doing.

Once you have a proven system, your goal is to find as many ways as possible to get your one effective ad in front of as many qualified business owners as possible.

This will keep your one proven funnel full of the one type of business owner prospect's that you want to work with.

Once you get your system, you're not stuck there. You can then begin to layer on other systems to generate clients and build a truly stable business.

See, it's not always about working harder and trying to be everything to every type of business owner.

You have to work hard at doing things the right way.

Focusing your mental energy, marketing campaigns and expertise towards one specific service and system until you're making consistent income is where it's at.

Think of it this way.

You only need one ad that generates one qualified lead per day that leads to one closed deal per week and you can build a six figure consulting practice in under six months.

Keep it simple.

Now, go close some deals,

Chris

    Hi Chris,

    Great advice.

I wish I'd had this drilled into my head at the beginning - it would've saved me so much time.

I have got my process down to one lead gen method, one prospecting process, and one entry level product, now. And as you say, it's a weight off the mind.

I'm not yet down to working with one niche yet. I'm trying niches one-at-a-time to see which works best for me.

    Anyway, enough about me.

    Great advice, Chris.

Great advice! It's important not to be narrow minded. Thank you, Chris!

Always think out side of the box and how you can capitalize with everything. However, be careful not to become scatter brained.

Good advice. I am working with someone here on the forum.
We did the same thing for her.
One niche, one service, one marketing strategy.
As a result, she got 3 clients in 2 days.
Bouncing around wasn't getting her anywhere.....

This is great information. I admit, in the beginning I tried to do a little of a lot of marketing with different channels, but now I stick with just 1 and try to master that before moving on to another system...granted, unless I outsource it to a company and it's completely hands off.

Yo, does the girl have a business name/website tailored to that niche? For example, 'Fitness Centre Marketing'?

      Cheers.

This post comes at a time for me when I need it most. I have settled down into 2 marketing methods and lead gen is one. Literally sat down and went thru the over 150 ebooks/wso that I had already read or looked into and made notes about what I thought of that business model. At the end of all that I was down to 2 business models that seem the most sustainable and profitable and scaleable with the lowest P.I.T.A. factor.

Wish I would have listened long ago about the shiny object syndrome.

    Thanks for this post

My ideas have always come at me much faster than I could implement. At one point I had spread myself so thin that I got so frustrated that I almost gave up. I never gave myself the proper time to dedicate to a project/idea before starting on the "next best thing" and all of the loose ends cost me more than just money.

I'll get my sanity back some day.

    This is great advice.

The way I do it is pretty much similar. I offer 1 service in 1 niche initially.

I do the whole range of marketing services for referrals and existing clients but to get new clients it's always better to concentrate on 1 thing only.

This is a great advice. I was listening to an audio recording and the trainer also said something similar. He said that if you are looking at making a six figure income, you need to sell a system. People are always looking a proven, working system. All you have to do is come up with a system and sell it to them.

I was doing copywriting the wrong way until I found my system and now, I Am focus on selling the system instead of just copywriting services. (writing copy is a major part of the system).

Find one proven system and work on it.

I'm suffering big time right now because of it. Yet the cure for me, seems to try out different approaches not only to see which works best, but which suits my temperament and liking the most. And in the process, probably delegate a couple to employees and partners.

But I really do need to get down to 2-3 approaches at most. What is taking me so long? Arrgh. #1 issue for most of us is managing OURSELVES. I know it is for me.

Sometimes getting enough momentum to make things work for
you is as simple as treating the method you're using as if it
    HAS to work for you.

Most people are playing with strategies hoping something will
work instead of getting serious about them, thinking through each
step, building their skills and doing what it takes to make a system
    work.

If you step back for a second and think about it business owners
desperately need your help and it really comes down to you getting
in touch with enough of them with enough conviction that they'll
hire you to give them the help they so desperately need.

    Kindest regards,
    Andrew Cavanagh

  • "By the way, when you simplify your consulting practice down to a basic but successful system, it's liberating." . . . Amen to that, Sir.

"You have to work hard at doing things the right way." . . . I'll put in with you big on this wise comment. This is such an important place to focus your energy for the good of it the very first time through.
