Just out of curiosity. I have been doing offline for the last couple years - and haven't had a 'job' since a started university four years ago (Started at 22 -> now 26 just finishing).

So who here is 'employed' and does offline part time? vs those doing offline full time.

That poll won't provide accurate representation.

    Not enough options.

ie: I don't have a job, and I don't work on offline "full time", so I'm not picking either option.

Speaking from experience, it is darn hard to build an IM business while you're working full time in Corporate America. You end up working IN your business, fulfilling orders, etc. rather than ON it...

I found I had a whole 4 hours a week on Sunday afternoons to learn new skills and grow my business. (You try learning Optimizepress in tiny chunks.) When I was able to return to it full time, I got more done and grew more in two months than the previous 10. Finally I could figure out membership sites, paid traffic, etc.

    Some thoughts:

If you don't own the business, you're never going to get that 200% (or 2000%!) raise.

If you don't own the business, you'll probably never create something you can sell for a lot of money.

If you can niche down, and provide one or two really specific solutions to equally specific problems, you can build a good income with part time effort. As long as the technology doesn't change...

I work for a company doing internet marketing.

So it isn't a job plus but a job doing this vs. self employed doing this.

I agree this needs more poll options.

Nope. Haven't been employeed in a little under 3 years.

The only thing I dislike about it is the amount of "favors" I get asked by friends and family. Stuff like, "if you're in the area today can you let the dogs out? I can't get home from work". Or "could you stop by to let the plumber in?". LOL.

I try to tell people "I'm working" and their response is always something like "can't you just bring your phone & laptop?.. you know we have internet" rah rah rah.

But I am slowly learning from my oldest brother (who is also self employeed). What he does now is just lie to people. He'll say he's in a meeting when most of the time he's just trying to focus on work. Its weird. Almost like my family is too nice, and because of that we all must lie to each other. Even the ones asking for favors, know damn well they can get home if they really need to.

LOL this is so true. The things you get asked to do always take more time then they should too.

I'm employed. I was freelancing (video editor) for 1.5 years after a sudden nasty case of forced unemployment (they shut our whole department down overnight). I was learning the ins and outs of offline marketing but I wasn't nearly ready to step out yet. I got a few clients but I didn't really know what I was doing. I took a job to get back feet fiancially as I had no savings and a sparse income. I'm a few months from being debt free and I've learned tons, so when the debts are paid, I'm going to see where I am in my business and look at venturing out solo again.

I work 40hours at a job and about 30 hours on freelance/offline marketing every week. Yes. I have no life.
