Getting resellers through cold calling...

So I want to give a boost to my video creation business. I'd like to take care mostly about the creation part and find partners who can bring sales.

More precisely, those partners would be SEO companies and other types of IM consulting firms that need converting videos for their clients. And I decided to contact the potential partners by phone, since it seems a lot more personal than an email.

So why I'm posting this? Because I have a key problem: I find it hard to set up a goal for my calls. An effective goal, I mean. Just presenting my offer is not enough. I guess most people would be kind enough to tell me something like "Sure, thanks for your proposal, we'll keep that in mind" but I have no guarantee that I'll hear from them in the future. I need to create some form of engagement, to get some kind of promise from my potential partner, but I still don't know how to do that.

To put it more clearly... If someone says "Great, we're interested" what should be the next step? How can I make sure that we'll have a concrete collaboration? How would you do that if you were me?

Thank you very much for your time!

Bogdan

You might be in a pickle if you expect anyone to be contractually obligated to use your service, when they can use others without that stipulation..less you offering such a deal they cant walk away from.

In this scenario best you can do is to stay in regular contact so they think of you when the need comes.

It will help if you can make something that they can use to sell video services to their client. If I were in this spot and talking to an agency that had a decent amt of clients I would make a short video and compose a sales letter for the agency
that they could mail to all their clients.

Anything that makes it easier for them to sell.

It's really tough to sell video via resellers. It's a value proposition that's tough to communicate to prospects. When you have to convince someone they need a video you're stuck selling those awful and disgusting slide show style business "videos" for a couple of dollars.

When they are convinced they need a video then you can find folks who will pay you $3k + for a truly great product. The key is finding people who are convinced they need video, or have it on their check list but would be happy to be sold.

Lot more fun, a lot less competion, but tough to market coherently.
