Amy's Baking Company was on on Kitchen Nightmares. Ramsay walked out. The business has circled the wagons on Facebook. It's chaos.

I caught the show on Friday and I'm amazed Amy is still in business. She would be the ultimate client from hell. My wife kept on saying it was all an act ... "no one in real life could be like Amy." LOL

    soooo....

Who's gonna hit 'em up for a website re-design & reputation management?

    should be an easy sell

I caught this show Friday night as well. First time I'd ever seen Ramsay actually walk out... I literally did a double take at the clock when the show was over.

Apparently she's a former Vegas Escort and did some time in the slammer for fraud.

Man, I saw this episode on Friday and couldn't believe my eyes.

These two business owners, if you could call them that, hired and fired 100 employees over a 12 month period last year. Chef Ramsey chewed them out for going through/firing 60 employees but the husband corrected Chef by telling him "that they'd actually hired and fired more than that. We hired and fired 100 employees, he said." No kidding.

This was sad on so many levels. The women was a complete moron. I guess no one has ever had the guts to tell her that her poop does stink like the rest of us.

Lol, this should really be a good test for the saying " there is no such thing as BAD publicity". Will they somehow turn it around and use the attention and spin to new heights, or continue their free fall into oblivion.

I was thinking the same thing. But I gotta tell you that if this place was local I would have to go one time, just to see it for myself.

Maybe people will go in now just to complain and see if the owners go off.

I saw that and thought it must be an act, but then researched a little after the show and it sounds real. Staff said the place was clean because they didn't have that much business so they cleaned all the time. The staff also said that is really how the owners are.

They shut down but as others have said they hired a big dollar PR firm and are going to have a regrand opening.

As a business owners I'm always pulling for other business owners to succeed but if anyone deserves to fail it's them.

  • Beyond all the drama, there is something amiss.

All the food was labeled and dated in the freezers properly, the place is spotless, and even Ramsay said those deserts were great. But the owner is entering all the orders himself, the orders were cooked almost one at a time, and they were selling frozen ravioli you could get at the grocery store.

It seems odd they were really good at some parts of the operation yet off the mark so much on others.

That's the kicker in all this... There are/were some "nuggets" that someone could build a successful business around.

Buying the products already premade cost them a ton of money... probably tripled their cost of goods. A restaurant/bakery is almost always better off baking/cooking their own products as opposed to buying stuff that is virtually complete. Granted you need to be able to make food products that taste good, but still you're way ahead of the game financially if you make the products yourself.

Not sure how successful it is. Sure, it has kept it's doors open for some time, but that could just mean that they sunk a lot of money into it. If it was really successful, it seems like they wouldn't have to have the show come in to help.

I'm with Eddie though. I'd have to go just for the experience at this point. Well, that, plus I'm just kind of a guy that likes to antagonize people.

Ramsey could learn from it too, he had a restaurant in the UK close for similar reasons to why he "is advising American restaurants"...

When Joe first posted that link yesterday they had around 27k or so Facebook fans , now they are up to almost 48k.
Guess everyone is tuning in to see a trainwreck in progress.

What is more disturbing to me than their whack behavior is the number of people who are just piling on the hate in the FB comments.
This is a little different than doing it on a forum or website where things are mostly anonymous vs on FB where there opposite is true.

I wonder if they are getting hate phone calls too?

They had just 3,000 fans early yesterday morning until things started blowing up. Not sure if fans are still being added, but try going to the page, wait minute or 2 then hit refresh. lol

EDIT: Right now they're adding around 10 fans per second. LMAO. That's awesome.

As far as being 'different' than doing it on a forum - they could have and still could just delete the page until things blow over.

Pretty sure their business is exploding though. If I was in Scottsdale, I'd be heading their way at least once.

If they were smart, they'd rake in the $$ from this over the next few weeks, then cut their losses if they can't get their act together as far as the food is concerned.

Who the hell knows, though. Maybe they just carved out their own niche:

What's also helping the traffic increase is all the major sites that picked up on the action. I'm sure the show has over 100k views on worldstar alone. The sad part is is there actually in an ok position. If they played it off as some kind of joke.

And hired a real chef and a few managers and simply stepped OUT of the equation they would be on the road to riches. But I guess that is also one of there major problems. Interaction with there employees. No good chef would take there crap. Scottsdale is very wealthy it would be worth them getting there act together

If I didn't have to be in this area I would fly or drive out there just to experience this. This whole thing has been amazing to watch. I just hope the meltdown continues. Their niche really could be the whole "insane owners who will yell at you" demographic. I'd pay to experience that. And if the food was good I would go multiple times for the "dinner theater".

I'm telling you, these two people can really make this into a huge draw for their business. Look at that video that Eddie posted, that business doubled sales. People will do all kinds of things for an experience, and Amy and Samy definitely give you that at their restaurant. The eyes are on them now, and if they play it right, it could be huge. They can roll with it and use this all to their advantage, or they an burn it all down by letting it get too personal and getting too wrapped up in themselves.

OK, I just watched part of the show. Just PART. 5 minutes. So far, it looks like if they allowed the servers to do their job, didn't swear, were more careful with the hair, paid more attention to cooking, and used all burners/ grill space, they would be OK.

I HATE it when a waitress messes up my order. HERE, the coowner MAKES SURE there are mistakes!!!!!!

BTW BLOODY in GB is VERY bad! It is a swear word. So to an American, ramsey sounds a lot gentler than he really is here. WOW, the waitresses tips are stolen by the owners because they work hard to mess up the orders. SORRY, "they do most of the work"!
