Show prices on website? (SEO consulting)

Hi Warriors,

I've been thinking lately if I should be showing my prices on my website as I have noticed some of my competitors don't?

I can see the logic behind that by making them contact me first to qualify and then save the prices for the actual consultation..

Thoughts?

Simple. Create a couple of landing pages and then see what converts.

Not exactly sure what you mean, but do you mean I should remove the prices and see how it converts for leads?

I'm more thinking in a sense of the prospect coming into the meeting with a preconceived idea on price if they have already seen it online before we meet.

But I think showing them the price at the end of the consultation would put some urgency on them since I can explain and work them off a higher package?

Do not show your pricing on your web site. Each clients needs are individual to their space they are in and how competitive it is.

Also if your site visitor has been doing any research on similar services they'll judge you on your pricing against others and this is a sure fire way to win the race to the bottom for pricing. Plus if you're pricing in substantially higher for same services it's a great way to ensure you don't get any clients at all.

I'm having a bit the same issues here.

I was thinking of getting 3 main packages together with a reference price point "Starting at xxx , adjustable based on competition".

    Would that make sense?

It depends on each client. Some people don't want to call and end up talking to you for a "pitch" - they just want pricing.

We have basic pricing on our site, but it never fails that those that are serious will call, and they will ask what other pricing options there are.

IMO - put something there, but always list that each client is individual and you can work up something custom for them.

Those that are just price shopping are usually not going to call anyways, and who needs tire kickers? You want people that are serious, committed, and invested in their own business. They'll get what they pay for.

If you sell the same thing every time you sell, price on the site - no problem. If you call it the same but it's different every time, price on the site is a problem.

If you feel you have to have a price, maybe you could go with:
In the past, I've done SEO at $low amount and SEO at $high amount (pick the lowest you ever charged and the highest you ever charged).
