Giving SEO/Digital Marketing Training: How would one go about doing this?

First off, let me say thans to Jason Kanigan for his help on this previous thread. http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...supply-co.html

Okay, so i'll be meeting with the Founder/Managing Director of a Book Supply Company.

He's asked me to meet with him (a consultation).

He requires the company website to be improved and said they possibly need training.

The kind of training would be in the area of SEO/Digital Marketing.

Has anyone done this before?

How much have you charged?

My business is basically consultation and implementation.

You see people charging a % of the monthly amount, plus a setup fee.

Video & pdf content for the training.

Find out what they want to achieve with the training and that will direct your content. Sounds simple? The tendency is for you to create something in the direction you want. But is that what your client wants?

Rates I have charged varies based on client and their needs. Most of my work is with local businesses who want higher standings in local based searches and someone to manage their social media accounts.

I have sent you a pm.

I'd say record a few videos and write some pdf's. Use optimizepress on your site to set up a membership area and then slowly drip the content. Maybe charge a 6 month monthly fee

I dont think I agree with this. Here's why:

Digital marketing is a specialised and growing field where expertise are highly valued.

In a normal environment, you would charge something like $19.99 - $97 per month for a membership site.

Let's say this company wants me to improve their website and the change leads to a 25% increase in profits.

      E.g. Annual Profits = $100 000 (before improvement)

Annual Profit = $25000 after improvement

      = $125 000

Now, how much would the owner want to give me? Let's say it's 20% of the increase in profits.
      That would be $5000!

So, does $97 or even $997 justify my input/knowledge added. I certainly dont think so.

I respect your opinion JustinDT but i wont undervalue myself.

Also JustinDT, what where the monthly membership rates you were think about?

    Hi there,

Have you given any consideration to the fact your client is a BOOK supply company? Book sales are dropping like a lead balloon. You might be setting yourself up for failure on this one.

    All the best,

    Sasha.

I think you will fail big time if you decide to train them in SEO and Digital marketing, let them pay you $1000 monthly to optimize their website then hire (outsource) out the best SEO expert in Odesk for $400 monthly.
