Can anyone recommend a Google Plus/Local rankings service that works?

Can anyone recommend a service to help local businesses improve their Google places/local/+ rankings? Have tried a few recommended ones but so far the results have been disappointing.

    Hi Ron,

Have you tried Kung Fu Backlinks? I haven't personally used him, but I think he's had some good reviews in the Warriors For Hire section.

I was going to use him for a potential project I had a few months ago but it fell through. He'll give you a 50% discount as a reseller (last time I checked).

    Good Luck!

Yes I did try his service. Great guy to work with and others have reported success but it didn't help the clients I tried him with.

    Hey guys,

@shockwave - thanks for the plug.

    @Ron - hope you're doing well, bud

Just want to clarify my service so others don't get the wrong idea... my service doesn't guarantee or even presume to be all that's needed for ranking improvements. The services I offer cover a couple pieces of the puzzle only. They are crucial parts to be sure, but you can't have success 100% of time when other parts are missing.

So... I cover this extensively on my website. I link to it in my sales thread. Check out the FAQ. It's all important information.

Ron, if you didn't see the success you had hoped for, there are only a few other things to consider:

    1) citations (either you didn't have enough, or existing ones have inconsistent information) - at the time of your gigs, I offered 30 citations, I believe, and I have never offered a clean up service, so this may be something you should look into.

    2) link profile - again, not something I've ever offered, but I suggest the following:

--> sign up for brightlocal.com - free trial - and use the G+ wizard to do a competition analysis. This will give you a good idea of the citations your competition has. Get the same ones along with doing #1 above.

--> get a silver plan membership at majestic seo and track the links the top rankers have. Try and get the same ones.

--> look at info on source-wave.com re: purchasing high PR domains, hosting them with seohosting.com and building your own blog network. Very affordable and very necessary if you're serious about giving quality seo services. Alex gives some great info that will get you started. Just use your imagination to improve upon what you need to. I know first hand how well this approach works. I am related to an seo manager for a multi-million dollar company here in Ottawa, and we talk shop all the time. It takes time and money to invest into it, but it works. People shouldn't waste their time with link packages and fiverr gigs.

    3) site quality - while I offer an optimization service, it doesn't cover the entire site. It's possible that other parts of the site need tweaking - keyword stuffing? poor meta data? bad interlinking? poor site structure? could be lots of things.

    4) local authority - my humble service doesn't offer things like online classified ads, press releases and other mentions of the business in the local sphere. Generating more local authority usually pays off huge.

So there's a brief laundry list that should help a great deal. Of course, I'd prefer my service be enough to get everyone on page 1, but unfortunately, there's just too much ground to cover lol

    • I have heard good things about Kung Fu Backlinks as well.

Also totally agree with him that you may only have part of the puzzle.

Especially important these days are organic ranking factors. He (or someone else) can do the best job in the world of optimizing the Place page, but if you have fractured upstream data, over optimization or Penguin penalties or other problems - the Place optimization is not going to compensate for those issues.

There are also many things many consultants overlook. Can't tell you how many high end pros and agencies I've trained that tell me:

"I've been doing SEO for 11 years, Places for 2 years and have worked on over 200 accounts. I know what I'm doing. But this one client - I've built tons of citations, backlinked the heck out of it, the site and Place page are well optimized and no matter what I do, I cannot get this client to rank."

In almost every case when I evaluate everything - I discover they were doing all this extra work, using all these heroic measures to try to get this client to rank and the problem was - they were building everything on a broken foundation to begin with.
Then after training they tell me "You don't know what you don't know and I didn't know I was missing important pieces of the puzzle."

To rank in local these days is complicated. He who has the most puzzle pieces in all the right places - ranks highest in that local market. If your client has missing or broken puzzle pieces, there is likely still work that needs to be done on other fronts.
