Anyone Running FB Boost Posts For Local Businesses?

Hi,

I was watching a webinar where they were saying that a great service for local businesses is to run ads for them. I can see this because the business gets immediate results. My question which wasn't answered was how do you go about doing this from their account and charge them for it? Since you have to run it from their account they can see how much it is to boost the post so how do you charge for that? They were saying they charge double but again why would a business owner pay you double for doing something they can do themselves? Maybe you would have to charge for the landing page or lead capture page. Anyone have any experience and or success with this? Thanks

I think you just answered your question. My guess is that many business don't do it themselves for a number of reasons.

I am not sure if it was the same webinar I was on but it sounded like you paid for the promoted posts and collected leads and charged your client for the leads. I think they were saying you can start a lead gen biz so the merchant has no clue how much it costs you to generate the leads

That is just one thing you are doing in amongst a whole service. You wouldn't look to build a business ONLY offering this service would you?
So they don't need to know the individual breakdown of your charges, this (FB Promotional service) is just one part of your whole.

Ok why do I pay someone to detail my Vette vs doing it myself? The reasons I give are many of the same reasons a business owner will give.
    • My time is worth more - If a business owner is making say $200/hr why would they do a task they could pay you $50/hr for?
    • I don't want to do it. - Even if you cost more per hour maybe they simply don't have any desire to do it.
    • I can't do it as well. - Maybe they don't know how to do it well. People look to experts to get things done right. I'd rather it be done right vs. save money.
The key is to be the expert. If you can show them how it will benefit them they will do it. If you can deliver and show ROI they will keep doing it. What most services we sell cost are nothing compared to the bills business owners are used to.

As for the logistics of how to do it. They make you and admin (might not even need that high of level honestly) on the Facebook Page and you run it that way.

I run Facebook ads for clients where I have been added as an admin. I run right column ads and sponsored stories for offsite pages and Facebook posts.

Typically I use some of my monthly fee to pay for the Facebook ads. The client never has to delve into the ads management.

Since you have to run it from their account they can see how much it is to boost the post so how do you charge for that? They were saying they charge double but again why would a business owner pay you double for doing something they can do themselves?
I believe all of these questions would be answered after a few sales pitches. You will find business owners that say "oh I can do that myself". Then move on and them overspend. And you'll find business owners that want nothing to do with running the campaign, but recognize the value and want you to do it for them.

Charge them a set-up fee + recurring management fee and have them cover the costs of the ads. At the end of the day, if you're generating leads the business is seeing positive results, its a win-win.

One thing you have to be cautious about is setting up a campaign for a client, and having them drop you after the initial work is complete. There are some business owners who will need to keep being reminded why they're paying you every month, even after they start seeing good results. This is where contracts can be very beneficial...

Thanks for the advice. I guess it makes sense that if they could do it themselves they would already be doing it. So I could pitch it and then have them make me an admin and they probably don't even care to know what I'm doing.

Next question would be, what do you charge? would you charge say 50% more of what the post would cost to boost? I also would include it with the landing page / funnel I design.

    Thanks again
