internet yo my home, Adelaide Oz.

Hey guys, a little of the forums general topics.
However I'm moving home to a central ish suburb here in Adelaide (Australia) and telstra is unsure if I can get a modem ASL connection until they send a technician out. Is this a arse covering technique, or is it still a possibility that I won't get connection?
Cheers

I believe it is a bit of ass saving due to the fact they are honestly unsure if the lines can handle it.

I suspect even if you get DSL it will kind of suck.

Telstra sucks, period. Find a proper ISP.

As an ex-Aussie I used so many different ISP's it wasn't funny. Best one I used was TPG. They were reliable and even had customer service if you needed it (and I rarely did). So much of Australia still has terrible internet, but it's all brilliant compared to here. Telstra should know what areas have bad coverage and shouldn't B.S. about it. I know you can go online and look at coverage maps so maybe try and and see for yourself.
Maybe you shouldn't move to a dead area???

I live in the bread basket of the US so I have heard of that happening here though more in the early days of DSL. Basically it was for people on a line but too far from a hub if I remember the technical parts right.
