I think it is bad to negotiate, state your price and stick to it.

If I am interested in a product, and the seller states firm price then I wouldn't try to negotiate. I would generally feel the seller out before making an offer.

Theres a saying that goes along the lines of...

"Whoever says a number first loses the negotiation"

Its something like that but its always stuck with me.

I enjoyed the article, especially the reasoning behind making the initial offer in a negotiation. The part about not giving too many reasons to back up your initial offer makes brilliant sense too.

There are really people out there that don't know to make the first offer? Do you think Car Dealers list MSRP plus "Sale Price" for the hell of it? Of course not they are anchoring. MSRP has lost all value for many customers so you can't anchor off it as well. Thus they use the "Sale Price" as the anchor and first offer.
