Just got a $7,000 Consulting Client. Simple Way.

Hey warriors.

Thought this would be an interesting share.

Just got my biggest client so far. $7,000 consulting client to setup their online marketing strategy.

Here's how I got him :

Much easier than you think.

Google Adwords -> Website with the sales letter -> Call to action with a 1-800 phone number.

Now you might think : Adwords? That's crazy. the average bid is about $15 per click for internet marketing terms etc.

Well I went a bit different route. I got about 100-200 keywords with an average bid of 1-3 that no one is really bidding on in my city.

Keywords like : how to grow your business, how to get more clients etc.

Just put yourself in the prospects shoes and think what he would be searching when he wants his business to do better.

Good luck to y'all.

What did you sell this client? Did you close over the phone or did you have a face-to-face meeting?

I sold him a complete online marketing strategy consulting.

Seo. PPC. Social Media. Media Buy and List building.

Basically I will create the complete marketing plan for his business which is a local auto dealership.

First he called to get more info. I set an appointment and sold him face to face.

I'm guessing since this doesn't even include PPC and Media Buy expenditures, this is significantly larger than your run-of-the-mill mom 'n pop used car lot?

Yep. That's pretty much one of the largest auto dealerships in the area.

Share what is included in the $7000.

What industry is the client in?

This is a nice get, and I love that you used paid traffic to land it!

I actually setup an Adwords campaign recently as well, we're still testing things out but plan on scaling up soon.

We're generating inbound leads for web design then upsell them on marketing services.

    Keep it going!!

With a big client like this, the main benefit is obviously the $84,000 in revenue - however, almost as big is the fact that this client can refer you to clients willing to pay a similar amount for your services.

Make sure your referral funnel is setup properly:

-Engage your client once you are seeing success, and get them to acknowledge it.

-Get their thoughts on things and their enjoyment in working with you.

-Let them know you want to grow and enjoy working with clients just like them.

-Ask for referrals of other businesses who may be interested in your services.

-Lastly, make sure you have a proper system to properly call these referrals.

What you say to the referral on the first contact makes all the difference, and everyone has their own strategy.

Awesome close! I agree with the above poster, treat this client like gold (i know you treat them all like gold) but money runs in circles with money. If this business likes your work, you will find getting similar businesses spending similar amounts of money a heck of a lot easier.

Are you planning on charging additional fees on monthly basis? I assume, yes... but just asking :-)

Yep. Basically $7k is a consulting fee without any fullfilment. Once we get the whole strategy together, we will workout a monthly fee for seo,ppc management and other services.

Hey, congrats to your 7k client.

I just closed this weekend my first 3k client and gona build him a similar strategy.

What do you plan on asking as retainer? Guess you have a similar plan incl. Video marketing, FB and LI integration, SEO etc.

My shot would be 600 p.m but I don't know if it's too much or too little.

By the way, my client sells used machines for around 30k a piece but his flux is very instable.

        Cheers

        G.

I think 600/mo. it's a bit too low. go for double. $1,200 per month seems a reasonable number.

    Wow! This figure is motivational.

    Congratulations.

I am putting all my Arsenal together to start offline marketing targeting specific local business here in New York City. I assume I wouldn't get a 7k client when starting, but it motivational to know I can get big clients once I get really polished in this business.

    Thanks for sharing this.

I'm sure you already know this but...

Invest $1k of that money and hire an awesome writer, a researcher, and graphic designer to make your plan look awesome. Make it look like a million bucks. Even if everything inside is basic to you, even if he never even does any of it, he will feel like a big shot.

You can bet he will show it off to every business owner he knows. It will be your most effective marketing collateral ever. You might even turn the last page into a bunch of perforated tear off business cards.

Thanks for the input. I'll do a really good looking marketing plan. Pretty sure the client will be happy to show it off to his friends.
