Is there a way to do this

On videos, having pieces that are specific to the viewer. ie a generic video but some words (spoken and /or typed) are specific to the industry.

lets say I do a video re mobile sites that I will be showing to locksmiths and hairdressers for instance , most the video content is generic but some parts I want to be specific to locksmiths (search numbers, terms etc ) but I don't want to have to shoot umpteen videos.

Is there a way to do a sort of mailmerge functionality in a videos content or what would be the best option around this .

I know you can do this re the actual landing pages content simple enough, I am looking at doing it on the video itself .

Im not expecting there to be a solution but worth asking

Haven't heard of anything like this, but for some of my own vids I shot the intro and outro, and then just drop those standard pieces in around my custom content for that vid.

This is how I would do it as well. And just have the landing pages vary by industry and play the right video.

I would do something similar to Jason

In my video editing software I would have the generic video and audio files set up in the layout I wanted.

and then I would keep the areas where I am going to swap information blank.

So really the only information that you are changing is just that one bit.

But this would have to be done manually.

I am not sure you can do it automatically.

Think of it like banner ads. You have your generic banner template photoshop file. It is all laid out in the way you want.

But then you can open up the file and go in and just change the text when you want for each specific niche.

Cheers Gents, appreciate your time, I thought as much but worth asking.

I have another idea to achieving similar results, will just do a generic video and in the video I will refer to specific content specified depending on the URL typed in by the user eg www.mysite.tv/mv/industrysector1 will bring up certain relevant content, www.mysite.tc/mv/industrysector2 will bring up different specific content etc

    Not my sites above

BTW after the first time you develop your reusable content...intro, outro, animated logo, pick your sounds, button images etc...it is much easier and faster to drop those things in around your new content and finish the vid. I think the first 2-minute video I made like this took me 2 or 3 hours. Now they take me about an hour from start (making slides, talking over them, getting my external audio into Audacity to fix it up, arrange it all in Camtasia and render & upload) to finish.

This is not possible if you want the video to be dynamic depending on who is watching it. You could do it with a slide deck or slide show type plugin...but it would not be a video.

If you want video you have to do what Jason mentions. Shoot the generic content once, save it in sections...then shoot the individual niche specific content....use a video editor tool to splice the portions together with the generic and niche content for each niche you want.

If you do slideshow videos, this is quite easy with powerpoint or video slideshow creators.
