"If this isn't one of your first hires for your offline biz, you're losing money..."

Hey Offliners,

Most offline marketers don't even consider the advice I'm about to share with you, so if you do it, it can have a profound effect on your offline business.

One of your first hires in your offline business should be for a marketing strategist or copywriter to write or critique your ads that you personally use to get clients.

Why?

Because if you're struggling to attract prospects in the first place, you won't have any need for that awesome outsourcing team you're dreaming about putting together.

I've had years of success writing basic copy and getting average results, but I could've done so much more business if I'd had the forsight to hire a mentor to write my ads and critique my stuff.

The exception to this is if you're a fairly good copywriter already. But even in that case, I would still advise you to let an experienced pro give you some feedback.

But if you're not a copywriter, then you should definitely do this.

Now I have to be honest. It's only been in the last few months that I've even realized this.

It's been such a breakthrough for me that I'm actively searching for a copywriter to put on monthly retainer to review all of the marketing pieces for me and the buyers of all of my products.

Plus, it's great to have a second set of eyes to review the projects you're doing for your clients.

Now, go close some deals,

Chris

    Hey Chris,

Very insightful post... I've talked to thousands of marketers over the years, both online and offline.

And almost without fail, those who were making more and having more success... all either were good copywriters or had a good one on their team.

I'll always remember back in 2001 or so... being told by Bill Phillips that "the money is in the marketing".

Well, copy definitely comes into play with marketing.

I've seen so many good products and services just sit, wither away, and die because the marketing and copy wasn't persuasive.

I mean, when you think of all businesses... a business can only operate if it makes a sale and profit. and normally, sales are driven by the site's copy... whether online or offline.

But for some reason, good copy is usually an afterthought for many businesses. Of course, after a few years of struggle... they usually find this out.

I know the single biggest reason I was able to make it online for 12 years now, was because of learning copy. The more I learned, the more I applied... and the more my businesses grew.

Good copy is nothing more than good persuasion... or showing a prospect why you can help them.

Prospects are motivated to get a result or solve a problem. Good copy can convey why you, your product, or your service is the one thing that can help them solve that problem.

The benefits MUST be clearly conveyed to the prospect if persuasion is to take place... and good copy does that.

Bottom line, selling is nothing more than giving what the prospect wants... and good copy can show that clearly.

    Good post!
