Hi there,

This is one of my favourite topics when it comes to advertising an online business by doing so offline.

I'm curious to see what's your favourite offline marketing method and why ...

Telemarketing works well for me. Joining network seminars is also one of my favorite. It allows me to meet new people, build network and possible clients.

I have cold called in the past and I would have to say it seems to cut through a lot of the fluff to me and get straight to the point of getting someone on the phone and getting down to business....lol

Do freebies work any more or is that inviting the potential client to low ball? Could proof of concept be considered the same thing? If I agree to do work and then get paid after I show proof of what I can do.

interestingly sasha, Here in the UK, it cost me £0.90 for a stamp for a DL envelope containing 4 sheets of A4 folded to send via my local post office.

Direct mail isn't as cheap as it used to be.

thankfully though there are sites like - www.cfhdocmail.com that offer excellent savings with their complete print n mail services.

My first would be Drop Cards. Expensive and time consuming if you wanted to build a large organization with just them, but SO easy to keep on you at all times and leave during your daily routine.
Second would be car window signage. For a modest investment, you can have your phone and website working for you each and every day.
I read once that the average person during their shopping trips and to-and-from work will be seen by an average of 40,000 other cars. This is the equivalent of having a storefront on a pretty busy highway.
And for the about $60, it's worth it.

Print. People still read newspapers, books etc. We all know that's changing, but it's still a viable medium for the short-term.

I think another under-rated one is events; people still love going to events and despite the cost, it might be worth it for your business.

Offline marketing completely depends on your industry. For example I work for an online business in the funeral industry and we have to do so much offline marketing (pretty expensive) because those arranging funerals still read newspapers, magazines and books etc.

A lot of our target audience aren't online - they might be online but might not be using it enough.

To answer your question our favourite is Word of Mouth. We do a lot of networking and this has the highest amount of conversion.

The answer is . . . It depends.

If you look at Dan Kennedy's marketing triangle, you need to determine the market first, then the message, and only then decide which medium or media is appropriate.

    Media: they're all good . . . and they're all bad.

So many methods so little time..lol I have dabbled in cold calling. I like that because it's direct and to the point. You are speaking to the person on the phone and you can address wants needs and questions.

It really depends who I am marketing to offline.
I like to go where my perspective client hangs out.

Craigslist is killer for almost all offline services I have found but I have had major success with a ad in a magazine called the clipper.
It is pretty pricey $500 for a 1/2 page but most of your target offline niches are in there.

But just one client and you made your money back plus some if you have your funnel set up correctly to get paid over and over from your clients.

The clipper is like a advertisement magazine that gets mailed to a certain demographic and all your local doctors, lawyers, pizza places and you name it advertise in there. Like a coupon offering magazine they have them in every state in the US.
