Ranking video question

When ranking videos(in order to generate leads) should you be searching for
keywords under broad or exact match? I want to be sure that i would rank
for keywords that are worth ranking for.

thanks

    I operate in small towns which don't show up in the Adwords area.
    I always test for the best Keywords by going to Big Cities.

    Example: Roofing Contractor in Las Vegas;
    Las Vegas Roofer - 424,000 searches
    Las Vegas Roofing - 7,220,000

    Roofer Las Vegas - 421,000
    Roofing Las Vegas - 7,324,000

    So.....if I was trying to rank a Video to get leads for a roofing contractor in the Las Vegas area....I'd go with;
    "RoofingLasVegas" as the title of my Video.

      I'm assuming Don is just using these numbers for fun, cuz those aren't anywhere near the correct number of searches.

      The truth is, you can't just go by how many searches are done. You have to look at the competition. Otherwise, you might be chasing a pipedream and going against competition who's far superior.

      There's plenty of WSO's and plenty of Threads telling you how to rank videos.

    Ranking a video to generate leads is no different than ranking anything else....there are more factors to determine if a keyword is viable than just the broad or exact search numbers/results.

    Since determining if a keyword is viable is pretty much one of the first steps to rankings, it is hard to sum it up in a few sentences. If you do not know this, then I would say should invest in a coach or some training to best understand this concept.

    thanks. I wasnt asking how to rank, though. I was asking if you are supposed to look under exact or broad.

    Well if you are using the city in your keyword, then it is more than likely that you should be using exact match since you want to know how many searches that particular city gets as a modifier.

    With that being said, I always look to find a few broad matches results as well because GEO targeting is becoming better and better these days. So a person does not need to type in the city to locate relevant websites in their local area. This is especially true if you are targeting any kind of mobile search, which has been working ok for me with videos...a bit tricky though.

    Let's also keep in mind what you're ranking for.
    Are you trying to get clients for a roofer? Or are you trying to get roofer clients?

    The keywords that were given as an example earlier could put you in front of the wrong audience if you're not careful.
