what's the best book or compilation of promos and contests for offline marketing?

Hey guys,

can you recommend any author or book that has a list of promotions or contests that we can use for offline promotions for restaurants, hotels and bars? I'd appreciate if you can help me with my research.

    I don't know of any book... You're talking about kind of a wide range of ideas.

    Get creative.

    I've got colleagues who do really well putting together non-profits and organizations with restaurants (and the like) to create small events that bring people in.

    And the nice benefit is, by having a non-profit's name attached to the event, you can get bands to play for free, suppliers give discounted rates, etc.

      Yes, I am. I just want to know if there's a book out there on promotions and contests. I also brainstorm and conduct a few promotions already, however if there are successful ones in a book, I think it is worth buying/studying.

        I don't know of a book that lists promotions and contests, but "Street Fighter Marketing Solutions....." by Jeff Slutsky is a goldmine for marketing ideas. I highly recommend it. It's for local businesses, not just restaurants. He does do a case study covering restaurants. It was published in 2007, but don't let the date bother you. The marketing ideas are timeless.

        He co-wrote a book with Dan Kennedy that was released last year. I haven't read it, but I can't imagine it being a disappointment. "No BS Grassroots Marketing..." Both are currently available on Amazon.
