.....Trusted Pros For A Better Home | Redbeacon

Just came across this on craigslist - ads for Redbeacon, a lead generation company owned by Home Depot.

Lead Generation is big money or else Home Depot wouldn't be in it.

Better get on it.

My daughter works for Home Depot as a lead generation specialist. All the leads are for Hope Depot approved installation contractors just to you understand there's a connection. = )

Lead generation is big and that's pretty much what all businesses want is leads/new sales opportunities.

OH also its good to note that Home Depot charges out the A$$ versus what non affiliated contractors charge. Why do people still use Home Depot and still pay WAY more?

    Trusted BRAND!

It is simply generating qualified leads for a business category (Chiropractors, financial planners, home re-modelers, etc. I have about 10 Lead Gen sites in various vertical industries and they do quite well. Once you prove that you can generate a quality lead (I give them away for free at first to establish credibility), companies will pay big bucks for a steady stream of them. Depending on the industry, you can make $25 - $500 per lead (Yes, some industries will pay $500 for a good lead!).

Craig, This is interesting. Have you ever considered a lead gen for commercial energy? (ie: lower your energy prices by choosing a different supplier)

I was dumb and made the mistake of getting carpet/install thru HD. What a nightmare. They were glad to take my money, but that was about it. I had major delay and install problems and they tried to tell me to deal w/ the installer. BS. HD took my money, it was their deal to finish. That was 12 years ago, and I've never set foot in there since.

I have stuck w/ local suppliers/intallers since where a customer will matter.

but for marketing opportunities, look at all the local installers signing up to the HD or Lowes plans, or plumbers working for roto rooter. Those folks are giving up big money because they do not know how to generate quality leads.

Rus, do you know what % the installers give up for their cut from a home depot, compared to generating the job themselves?

That is an indicator of what a qualified lead/order is worth to installers. I am guessing HD pays them 25-35% less than their normal install $$. I wouldn't even be surprised if HD cut was even more.

The HD installer list might be a great IM biz lead list to show them how you can help them pick up extra money by paying you to generate leads for them instead of working cheap for HD.

The % depends, but for example, carpet install HAS to use home depot supplied carpet. They can't go to other manufacturers, they have to get it straight from home depot. Home Depot charges the fee for measurements, which the installer gets. The real money isn't what they pay for the service... the money comes in when the contractor gets paid per sq ft of carpet so you're looking at .40-.80 cents per sq ft. So if you have a small house and there is 1,000 sq ft of install, the contractor is getting a partial up front install fee + $400-800 for the job. Of course, there are other fees they get on top like $5 per step extra.

Also, they get paid fees to remove the carpet. You have to also realize that this is just carpet.... add padding to the mix too.

With window installation, what's funny is that Home Depot won't even install the windows they sell in the store. Rus is right about their prices too, they are pretty high so it's always fairly easy to close a deal if they've had HD give them an estimate.

The contractors they sub out to do the work are typically bottom of the barrel, but unfortunately the customer has no clue that it's not really HD doing the work until the guy in "jim bob's do-it-all construction" pulls in to do the install.

Also, here in Seattle area, HD uses an independent company to do their job measures. My buddy worked for that firm. They have their own custom software (and some hand held devise) to do take-offs for carpet, hardwood and tile.

Now I HATE going into Home Depot.

Minding my own business shopping, when someone appearing to be a Home Depot employee approached me and asked whether I'm finding everything alright. My reply, "Where are the children's night lights?" to which the fake employee had no idea. Then she started a cheezy sales pitch, and wouldn't leave me alone until I firmly spoke up and walked away.

10 mins later another woman approached me, asking if I was finding everthing alright. I replied that her partner already hit me up and I am not interested.

Weeks later I was back at Home Depot and saw those annoying "floaters" zipping around the store approaching customers and bugging the crap out of them. Yikes! I guess that they're now a permanent fixture in the store. Which is why I go to Lowes instead. Same distance from my house, same merchandise, same prices. Minus the annoying floaters.

Now they are looking for gardeners.

ARE YOU A GARDENER IN SALT LAKE CITY? WE HAVE JOBS FOR YOU!

I can't find it but read it somewhere on their site that Home Depot customers get some kind of discount/points when they shop and use Redbeacon.
