Video Ranking "Secret"

If you're in the "Video Ranking" biz....here's a way to get MORE "Lead Calls" to your clients;

Ok, let's say you have a Video ranked on the 1st page of G for a popular Keyword. Ex: "Plumber In Denver".

When people type in this keyword, up comes your video AND....a whole bunch of OTHER videos related to "plumbers" on the right side of your video....which potential customers of your Plumber will see and....possibly click on.

WHY allow competitors to your video client get in on YOUR efforts to get your video onto page 1?

What if there were NO other videos showing, tempting potential customers of YOUR clients....just YOUR client's video?

Well....there's a way to have your client's video be the ONLY Video to show.

You add a piece of code! In the YouTube embed code, add 'rel=0' after the LAST "&" in the http address in the code!

ex:
<object width ="480" height="240"><param name="mymovie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xPORsb30Y&hi=en_US&fs=1&rel=0">

Again....after the last "&" in every "http address" in the code, add "rel=0"

There's usually 2 "http addresses" in each code.

Now....your videos will appear with NO other videos showing. Your client's prospects will NOT be tempted to look at other videos.

This will only work with videos that you actually "embed" on other sites and get it to rank on Google search. In other words, if you rank your youtube video in organic Google search, when people click on that video, many other videos will be seen on the right hand side. You can do nothing about that, because your video is on youtube.

If you want to eliminate other videos from being viewable, you must take the code of your video and "embed" it on some other site like your own website. Then, you have to actually rank that particular site, so it shows up in Goggle organic search. Unless, something changed with youtube lately...

    Hope it helps,

    Thomas

PS. There are people who know how to rank videos on their own websites, but most don't even try and simply concentrate on youtube only.

  • Cool. Here's another quick tip. So many videos have no link back to the main website. You can set a default description under "Channel Settings --> Default --> Description."

That way there is a description and link for every video. You can go back in later and make it more detailed. If you get busy, you have the basics covered.

Using annotations is also a greatly underused strategy. You can set your message to start/stop exactly where in the video you want, and you can do it more than once per video. Viewer clicks on the annotation, you send them to a site associated with your channel.

Check your Youtube analytics to find the optimal place to put your annotations. So if people are dropping off at 1:22, then put your annotation at 1:10.

        Hi Craig,

Can you point out a guide or some further info on how to link annotations to external sites?

I tried looking it up on Google & there's ten different people saying different things.

        Thanks!

Your advice has nothing at all to do with "video ranking".

It is a good tip for embedding a video into a webpage.

The thing is, if you have not convinced the viewer of taking action on your video by the end of it, then it really has nothing to do with related videos that show up. It has to do with a weak video or call to action with in the video. So this technique should not be something that anyone really relies on with their videos....

Thanks so much for this, it saves me a lot of time.

When putting in a link in the description box is it best to us:

      https:// or http:// ?

      Thanks

  • Add a CTA at the end of the video, which lasts at least one minute, showing either a ph number or website to visit.
Viewers never stay to the end to see related videos

      Excuse me....I forgot the main reason for this thread;

When uploading a video to it's Channel....go to "Advanced Settings" and

... you type in the address of the business into the search bar and the map comes up. What you must do is then move the marker slightly until the video location changes to the GPS co-ordinates not the address you typed in.

VERY important to do this ... so just do it and then click the save changes button.
Now your video is well optimized and stands a very good chance of ranking well in the search engines.
One final step ... you want to ping your videos via www.Pingomatic.com

Then....watch the video all the way thru for 3 times! Google pays more attention to videos that are watched thru 100% rather than 10%.
