How much to charge for website design, seo, maintainence?

Hi. I just landed a client and I was wondering how much I should charge for website design, seo, and maintainence?
How about seo and maintainence alone?

    @FunkeyMonkeyMan

If you are looking for a specific answer to your question... you will need to provide more detailed information so you can get specific answers to your question...

You can charge anywhere from $500 - $10,000+ for website design.

I agree the question is too general, all depends of the amount of work you will be doing etc

Well the first thing that you have to answer is are you going to charge a flat free upfront for SEO service and a monthly charge or just a monthly charge?

Second what is the local competition charging for how many pages for a website?
Then you do not what to charge to little or too much more then them unless your services and work is that much better then the competitions.

Since you were not that specific this is the best I can come up with to help you...

If you are looking for the common price range well yes, the minimum is $500 and you can go as high as $10,000 all depending on the kinds of works you need to do to a website and how much work you need to put on it. There are many factors that will affect your price.

I'm worried on behalf of that client. Seriously.
Why would you offer a service when you don't know how to price yourself in the first place?
I'm not intentionally being rude here but I can't help but think like this.

Perhaps, you're just a middleman? Shed some light, fellow.

How much will it cost you to produced the desired results?

How much do you want as profit?

How much is your client willing to pay?

How much is your client able to pay?

Have you made yourself unique in client's eyes? If not, how much is the SEO'er next door charging for the same thing?

All your questions will be answered in this book:

    Breaking the Time Barrier

Yes, its free and NO, it's not from some internet marketer trying to grab you for his list. It's from one of the most reputed companies, FreshBooks.

It's a book that will allow you to price your services correctly, giving justice to both parties. A MUST READ for all freelancers and service oriented businesses...

This is why small business owners look at seo firms like consumers look at the roofing industry.

in case of web design it depends on quality of your work and on website type ( wordpress, joomla, custom cms, dynamic website, static website) and on type of design you are providing like it is template based or custom design obviously custom designed costs very much.
static(html, css little bit javascript) 5 pages website cost about $150 - $500 . wordress, joomla and other cms based website costs about $200 - $300 (if you are using free theme or premade theme) $400 -$1000 (if you are using custom designed theme) .
custom cms website cost little bit high about $400 to $1000 or more depends on work.

and for SEO , prices are almost fix, it depends on keywords and pages, you can search on google for SEO service providers see their plans and estimate your price.

If you narrow down, what you are going to provide in your services then i guess it will be easy to quote price.

It depends on a lot of factors really. What type of website are you making? How complex is it? How long will it take you? Do you need to purchase resources? How competitive is the niche you are trying to rank for? You need to think about all of these, but you should have probably thought about that before you thought about getting clients. I'm surprised you managed to land one without them knowing your rates.

To OP......it's so simple I really shouldn't have to tell you this but I am going to tell you in the vain hope this post gets re posted every time someone asks this question (no harm in asking obvious questions BTW)

Like everything in business put yourself in the customers shoes........for you that means if you are targeting restaurants ring up your local, national competitors whatever market your competitors happen to be in and see what their prices are like on their site.

No price? Call/email them and say this, "I am thinking of starting my own business (a restaurant) and I am thinking of getting a website, seo for my website etc, how much would that cost me?

You will now have in your head a range of prices, what you choose is the one you feel the most comfortable with e.g. pile it high and sell it cheap or go for the more is less option e.g. bespoke web design, fully customisable site etc etc.

      HTH

      Nick
P.S. Don't forget to think like a customer who is ringing round for quotes, remember most folks won't pick the cheapest so consider a few factors to back up your decided price, whether you are the cheapest or dearest customers still need a reason to buy from you, price only is a major factor when you are in markets like craigs list and even then you have to back that low price up!
