Is print dead? I don't think so. It just needs to adapt. My online video magazine, business directory and social network is going into print serving as support to the online publication.

For example: Photos in the magazine will contain QR codes and links directing readers to watch the full video version. This feature will also be available to advertisers as an option.

The magazine will be distributed at events, select retail and residential locations throughout ‪Houston‬.

    Dead?

    Not quite.

Actually we're closing contracts to design a new magazine with EU distribution (knock on wood!!) and doing right now a newspaper pagination.

People still use print media, and more then ever, print is "fashion".

That's great news. The billionaires are buying up publication left and right. They know what's up.

    Nope, certainly not.

Going to be launching a new free tourist magazine in January next year. Already have a number of advertisers signed up. In fact, I think that we are fully booked until September 13.

      Tell me more!

We're deeply involved with portuguese travel/tourism agencies/companies/brands, and we would love to know more about the magazine: in the US, EU? Anything interesting for us or our customers?

It is a magazine launching just in Brighton, England. If it takes off then we will be taking it to more tourist destinations in Europe (I live in Sweden and have a couple of locations in mind here).

Ryan, feel free to hit me up a message with advertising prices and some sample I can pitch to our customers. Some of them invest in UK incoming travelling to the Algarve, Madeira and Azores, and they might be interested in advertising.

Sorry about the offtopic - just goes to show print is not dead!

Print is definitely not dead. People are thinking so because of the rise of power of the internet and social media but print has significant advantages that is why it's still around until now. Magazines and newspapers can stay in place for how many years but internet ads can be lost in the digital world in an instant. A good makeover is what print needs but it will still be around for a long time.

Of course print is not dead. Not only it's not dead, it's becoming popular again, just a bit tweaked and adjusted to the trends. And there are more than a few ways to adjust print to trendy population - like your idea. QR codes are a great way to popularize printed media.

Print is not dead, it's like how email came out and everyone assumed direct mail would be dead, but it's not.

Rather it's a combination of past and present working together like the above fliers which are print but incorporate QR codes directly onto them.

While neither Direct Mail nor Print is dead, they are pretty much there and that won't change in the near future. There are few things left that are will never kill the industry, such as the person looking for a magazine to read while at the doctor's or flying somewhere.. or the direct mail that is a re-sell letter (from a bank as an example). Maybe newspaper for older folks.

But the reality is, ask any business owner (B2B) or go to a grocery store (B2C). Ask around. Don't ask marketers, don't ask anyone in advertising, anyone in marketing.

      See the answers for yourself.
