Do you want to own a city?

Would you like to be in a secret alliance of offline2online marketers that own
a membership site offering services to upgrade offline business owner's entire
web presence offering them all kinds of services?

The secret alliance would support each other by conducting online tactics that
promote each other and share resources.

Each member would choose and own a city. You would spend your time marketing
instead of fighting with the membership technology or technology you're offering clients.

Your membership site and your client's online presence technology would be handled for you.

The income you make for your city is all yours. There would be no partnerships, just
involvement in an active secret alliance.

What are your thoughts on owning a city and the secret alliance group?

The secret is the secret alliance of marketers in the alliance group. The other marketers in your alliance strategically promote each others business online. In other words, they help establish you in your city as an authority or the go to person so local business owners will use your services to update their website, social, mobile, etc.

I'm Canadian. Right now I'm living in Costa Rica but will soon be moving a city in the USA which I will own. Just thinking of the best approach to scale services in a city. Going it alone won't scale as easily because it takes to long to establish authority.

The location or country doesn't matter for this to work.

No... that would be like owning a franchise.
    Not something I'm interested.

Especially if you get some un-ethical franchisee that brings down the others.

Plus, now I'm limited to my location.
Why would I want to do that?
What would I fo with my clients in other cities?

      Good Questions:

I'm not seeing the franchise connection thing. Can you expand on that?

The idea is to promote each other helping make them an authority in their chosen locations. (Similar to what some people in this forum do to promote each other in posts)

A member of the alliance could own as many cities as they want. There would only be a handful of members in the alliance. Maybe two handfuls, but not many.

Is there a secret decoder ring? If so, I'm all in! Sorry, couldn't resist! :p

Isn't that what this forum is for?

And, is there a fee for this? Someone is handling our membership "technology" for us while the rest just go out and market?

This sounds like you're either trying to set up a MLM type of thing or you're looking for walking telemarketers. I'm not being sarcastic, but your post is very vague. "secret this, secret that". I fully understand you're trying to keep it a SECRET, but if someone is asking to "handle" my business while I go out and market, sounds like I am an employee, not a business owner.

Perhaps you can share a few more secrets?

You're not grasping the concept. More about a secret alliance is here... (I didn't come up with the term secret)

I'm sure something like this isn't for everyone.

On the surface this appears to be a good idea however, the second some one in the alliance isn't satisfied with having their city guess what happens next.

They start bird dog'n your clients.

That post you linked to is 4 years old. If something like this was very successful, don't you think we'd have heard more about it by now?

You mean it only worked for the day he wrote the post?

The folks he is referring to still have the alliance and they seem to be doing pretty good.

I see alliances working on here all the time. Haven't you noticed?

Of course that's not what I meant. There are lots of alliances that work. I'm in a few loose alliances myself.

But getting back to alliance you posted about, how do you know it's working if it's a "secret" alliance?

          So true.

Glad I posted this thread. Reminds me why I deal with offline business owners only.

Aw ... don't be so sensitive, you'll make the folks who made jokes feel bad.

I was serious when I pointed out the thread was 4 years old and asked why we haven't heard more about it. It's an interesting idea, one that could work with the right people involved, but I didn't see any follow up information so I naturally wondered why there's nothing more about it.

You see, if I'd have made that post and the idea was working for me, I'd do something with it besides making a solitary post. Is there a follow-up I've missed?
