How would you respond to this Ad

Hi,

Just came across this ad:

HELP!!!!!!! I NEED LEADS!!!!!!! (NATIONWIDE)

I have a great Business Opportunity package I am finally bringing to market. Like a Franchise but without the ongoing fees, aggravation, hours, etc. $19,995 INVESTMENT. Now I need leads. How can you help.
  • Location: NATIONWIDE
Thinking of contacting this ad

I don't know the offering, but I was thinking of maybe
setting up a lead generating site for them.

Could set something up today as I have some WSO's
dealing with lead generating sites and how to build one.

If you did a site for them, would you charge up-front for
the leads, and how would you price them?

Also, should this be a local site? I would think that a nationwide
site would be tough to rank.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, but I would look for better opportunities than this.

Local businesses that have a track record and can be relied on to actually
pay you for the leads, would be a far better investment of your time.

The 'great biz op' he's talking about could turn out to be junk, and he could
have no intention of paying you anyway. From his ad, he just sounds like a
    desperate hype artist to me.

      Hi Bruce,

      My thoughts exactly.

      Whenever I see ads with
      !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      it turns me right off

But what if they are willing to pay for leads up-front?

Mike, I would still be leery. I'd have to set up an infrastructure (for his niche) to find and capture leads. If I was using PPC I'd have an investment upfront, and if it was driven by organic traffic I'd need to do other preparation to get that rolling. Which would involve plenty of time and effort.

Honestly Mike, I think you should reverse your thinking.

YOU pick a niche YOU like, that you think you'll be successful in, and look for good vendors, that you have reason to trust and then approach them with an offer to bring them leads. How you get payment is up to you.

This guy running the CL ad is just raising his hand saying he needs help...in my
experience almost ALL need help, in one way or another. Instead of trying to fit into what he wants, YOU define what YOU want and then find businesses that seem to fit that. Just a thought- good luck.

I avoid adverts like this like the plague...if they can't be more specific then it's not worth your time investigating. Build a site, then sell it to the highest bidder, don't work for peanuts. Just my $0.2!

Okay, so I emailed this person to see if they would be
interested in paying for leads. This was their response:

"Thanks for your response. Not interested in pay per lead. Would only consider if it goes through several filters. Been around too long. "

You would think that if they were "around too long",,they would be able
to generate their own leads. Squeeze Page, PPC, etc.

Anyone interested in working for free?

Looks like one of those bait and switch ads.

I don't think that they are looking for leads at all. At least not in the sense of having you call them up to set up a lead generation system for them.

I think what they are doing is looking for leads, but the leads they want are the people who are calling them. So if you called them, you are now their lead, a potential prospect for whatever their $19,995 investment opportunity is.

That is their goal - to sell that investment opportunity.
