Does this have potential to work well?

Hey guys, if you've done any advertising work in the past, could you tell me if this'll work? I reckon it has potential.

Basically advertise Dentist and Doctors offices, here's how I'd do it:

1 - Pick myself a city, state etc to target and gather a list of the dentist and doctors offices that are located in that location including and gather their physical addresses and site URL's.

2 - Register a domain name with the name of that city in the domain name. For example if you're targeting Dentist Offices in NY you should register something like DentistsInNY.com or NYDentistOffice.com.

3 - Purchase Hosting and install WordPress onto the domain and publish a "Reviews" related theme on the site.

4 -Send an email to all of the dentist offices in that location letting them know that you can offer them a permanent advertising listing spot on your site for only $100 and that there's only 5 spots available on your site. By only offering 5 spots per site your prospects will have a feeling of exclusivity and for $200 they can't afford not to purchase it. Let them know that you'll also be writing a positive 500+ word post on their office that will be posted along with their contact information and site URL so visitors and users looking for Dental Care can easily be contact them. Also, you'll want to create a page on your site and set the URL up like NewYorkDentistOffices.com/pay = so it will look more professional if and when they decide to purchase.

5 - Enjoy the earnings

I reckon if I can get about 50 dentists at least 10 will pay. Don't forget, Dentists make a heck of a lot of $ and can spend thousands on advertisements. I'll most likely try for $100 a listing and advertisement, however. It could be reoccurring each month, and to get them that final push to join, do deals such as buy 12 months worth (lets say $100 each month = $1,200) get two months free (so $1000 in total)

In all, the cost of setting up the website will be next to none. WordPress themes are usually free, and domain names are cheap as chips.

Theoretically, this could work wonders on a range of services. Restaurants, Plumbers, technicians, IT support, Dog walkers, gardeners, Lawyers...So the potential is high. I could also (for say, Dog walkers) lower the price to $30-50 a month as they'll earn a lot less per day than a Dentist.

I'd also try to rank the website for a keyword. Lets say dentists: "Dentists in New York" or..."Lawyers in Baltimore.

Would this possibly work? Or am I having a pipe dream?

  • It can certainly be a good idea if you are able to get the dentists to sign up for the service. You'll need a professional/convincing way to reach out to them and get them to agree to pay you.

You might even consider doing something like "NYServiceReviews.com" and then add on /dentists for the dental side, /lawyers for lawyers and so on. That way you have fewer expenses, and also you may be able to position yourself as an authority in that particular city.

Also, i'd start with medium sized cities rather than New York.

    Good luck!

That's a great idea! Thanks! Basically an AIO? (All in one)

I wasn't gonna start with NY it was just an example to make it simple really. I'll probably start locally - And definitely I agree with the convincing them. That'll be the hard part, I'll have to set it up beforehand.

I'm probably gonna query with them beforehand, to see if they'll be interested.

      Thanks for the reply.

compiling a list of dentist/subject matter experts is one thing, but getting traffic to the website is another issue. then only it can be a win-win for all parties.

You will need massive traffic to justify asking $200 for a listing and $100 a month in advertising. And big traffic costs big money, or years of work if you don't want to pay.

Also, 10 sales in 50 (20%), not a chance, ever. When you eventually get good at internet marketing you'll be doing well to consistently deliver one tenth of that.

There are dozens of listings sites that businesses of all types in any city can get onto, often for free.Your potential clients will already be on many of them. You have to ask yourself why would anyone want to pay you?

Your idea is do-able, but you will need to address all of these issues, and many more, to stand any chance of success. Sorry to be tough, but no-one is giving you a wake-up call on here yet.

Yeah I've gotta work on that. Maybe do target ads? Like, people who's IP is in a certain location such as New york?

        But good luck.
My bad, I meant $100 in total each month. For the listing as well as the advertisement.

When you are getting 100k+ monthly visitors you should be able to convert around 2% into advertisers at $100 a month.
