"Just settling for any old thing..."

Hey Offliner,

If you truly believe that your life is the blank canvass upon which you write your hopes, dreams and greatest ambitions, why not choose greatness?

I get that you have to do what you must in order to get those first few deals or to pick up the slack in the slow months.

I've been there. And from time to time, life's circumstances tries to push me back there.

But I always come out swinging.

And you should too.

See, my message for you today is simple.

Here it is:

Don't settle for less.

You can cold-call all day if that's all that's working for you right now, but spend a little time each day testing out a five or ten dollar facebook/ppc/banner ad campaigns.

Walk door-to-door to every business in your town if you like the excercise and it gets you clients, but work behind the scenes to put together a display ad or full page ad in industry publications that get prospects to contact you first.

Keep on going to networking events three or four nights a week and handing out business cards, but quietly work towards becoming a paid speaker at those same events so that they pay you to show up.

See, for every push prospecting marketing method, there is also a pull prospecting and marketing method.

If you're in business long enough, you'll find yourself doing both. But at the end of the day, isn't it better to work towards attracting more leads than you have to chase?

What's a more worthy goal than consistently attracting qualified leads and prospects?

I submit to you that nothing is worthier.

Besides, who really dreams about being fifty, sixty or seventy years old and cold-calling, emailing blasting and going door-to-door?

Come on. Get real.

That's not your dream life.

And don't think I'm bashing cold-calling, door knocking or email blasting. They all work. I use them from time to time when I need a shot in the arm.

I'm just asking you to put some assets in the bank for a better day.

While you may have to do anything and everything to get clients today, quietly set aside some time today to put one small little step towards your long-term assets.

Keep tinkering with those facebook ads. Maybe play around with some radio ads to drive traffic to a landing page. Why not buy some banner ads on the local chamber website.

You might not strike oil at first drill, but I guarantee you that if you stay at it long enough and keep tweaking and testing, you're going to find something that works.

As you can probably tell by now, this is my passion area. I just hate seeing good folks always doing things the hardest way and then wondering why they're burnout, weary and giving up.

There's another better way, if you're willing to work at it.

Now, go close some deals,

Chris

P.S. If your life's dream is to be the best cold-caller, best door-to-door salesperson and email blaster, I apologize in advance. I probably just ticked you off. My bad.
