How about a "Restaurant Rating Guide" for a money-maker
Yup.....waay back in the "dark-ages" ....b4 the Net, I moved to the Aspen, CO area (I think it was about 1980) and....since I was in an Affluent Resort area, I noticed there were NO "Restaurant Guides" showing visitors or newcomers where the restaurants were located, what they provided etc.
So....I thought, "Hey! Why don't I put together a "Restaurant RATING Guide" for the area!
At the time there were over 100 restaurants in the area.
I researched what SIZE my Guide should be and how I would sell it and where and how much should I sell it for.
Well...after talking with a few printers I decided to make my "Guide" 4" wide by 8" high to be able to fit into the plastic holders available at the Office Supply Stores.
I'd put a Nice Graphic on the front Cover and call it, "The ASPEN Restaurant Rating Guide"...where I'd "rate the restaurants from 1 to 5 stars AND....with the top 4 & 5 Star places I'd show them a mock-up and sell them an AD.
Well....I happened to find a great Graphics gal at one of the print shops, who made up a nice Demo for me and I proceeded to sell Ads in it....and....she helped me "Rate" the restaurants.
We had an Outline of what we were to look for and....she and I went to X restaurants a day. At the end of the day we met to go over our "Ratings". It was a ball.
My main "distribution" would be Hotels, Gift Shops and mini-markets and gas stations. I'd give each location a commission and after getting GREAT response from the potential locations AND Advertisers (any biz that wanted to reach Tourists).....I went ahead and made up a batch as a Trial.
Well....after a week I was totally FLABBERGASTED at the response and proceeded to produce my "Aspen Restaurant Rating Guides" for the next few yrs....and made a "bunch" of moola....just from an Idea, in the "Old-Days".
So....I am NOT selling anything here! Just showing what is possible from an "Idea". ALL the details about this program are HERE! I'm sorry if your "curiosity" is bursting.
