QR codes for PC sites

Is there a way, if not why not.

Why isn't there (or is there?) a USB scanner that we can use on PCs the same as there is a code scanner integrated on mobiles, then as marketers we can utilise even more approaches via QR code strategies

I thought of building it right into the bottom of a mouse. Scan QR and barcodes.

That would be very cool to have such a scanner integrated in a mouse! Are you aware of something like that already on the market?

It's early in smart phone/mobile stuff like QC/NFC etc....whatever technology ends up being used, it will eventually gain traction, be built in to mobile to bridge the printed-digital world. It might be via augmented reality functionality, viewing printed material w/ mobile cam and a link pops up on screen.

good call putting it in the mouse, it would make sense to have one though as it would work the same and be just as beneficial eg in magazine ads link the reader directly to where you want them to go.

Im surprised theres not something out there already

Another good application for QR would be tv commercials and television shows. I have my phone nearby when watching TV and would use it for more information. For TV shows, they could keep the icon on there throughout the show for comment feedback, real time polls etc... Would be an easy way to ramp up interaction over and above a simple text app.
