What I learned from M3 Cold Calling
Lawyers need to litigate and have you file legal motions and things before they'll get in on a card with you. Accountants are just downright interesting to speak with about marketing... lol.
Anyone who specifically targets business owners - not just dabbles, are great M3 targets if you, yourself sell marketing services. I called a specific vertical - sent 6 emails and got 2 verbal commitments.
What helped me get to that point is that I not I only pitched M3 - I was also able to show them how and why their marketing was failing. Instantly I became an authority figure.
If you try to educate your M3 B2B prospects - it's so much easier to close. There are almost 10k restaurants in NYC I want - my partners understand this is "all or nothing." Mark it up 4 or 5 cents for your time - you just paid yourself for generating M3 leads.
The #1 takeaway I got from M3 was that the best way to get partners is probably thorough direct mail Extremely easy, but completely unproductive cold call if you don't target partner segment types with laser like precision.
EDIT: This post was dramatically edited from its original version as original version was written on a smart phone.
What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?
