Or SEO a webpage for a keyword their clients would use to find them. The content on the page would be:

Sorry, folks, I know you were looking for xyz, and you found this page. It exists to point to the people whose service/product you were looking for that I can get to the top of Google for the phrases people who buy their stuff use.

Attention owner of xyz product/service... In the last month, this webpage had 397 visitors who found it by Googling xyz search term. What do you think happened if they Googled that term and found YOUR page at the top of Google?

A simple way to start is to talk to business owners you already
know and business owners who other people will introduce you
to.

When you talk to a business owner ask them a lot of questions
about their business and LISTEN.

Don't be so eager to try to sell them your service.

By asking questions, listening and being genuinely interested in
them, their problems and their business you're going to gather
information that will help you effectively suggest a service you
offer as a solution.

And all that listening is going to help you build rapport which is a
huge key if you want to get hired.

Once you have a little experience talking to business owners you
can use a whole variety of different methods to make that first
contact with prospects and get their attention but everything
works a whole lot better when you've worked on your skills asking
questions and listening.

An effective yet obvious method I use is Direct Mailing prospective clients. Make an excel sheet of all the local businesses you want to target and write targeted letters to each business. Throw in your hand written signature at the bottom to seem more professional, and putting in an inanimate object into the envelope will make your letter stand out from the rest (I.E: Dice/Pen). Hope this helps!

1) Go to Wally World and buy a "Portable DVD Player" (RCA $89)
Download one of my Sample Videos

Ambrosia Restaurant - YouTube

)

2) Burn the video to a DVD and insert into Portable DVD Player

(#49 in my Midas Reports (see Link Below)

3) Go to a local restaurant and tell owner you'd like to show him something that could bring him more business. Set DVD Player on table and click On. Tell owner he's spent much time & money on his Interior and nobody sees it UNTIL they're inside! However, a video showing the outside, some food plates, and the INTERIOR will DRAW Diners!
Then ask owner if you can take some digital photos and put together a video AT NO OBLIGATION!

Take 10 to 12 shots....use Movie Maker (I use PhotoStory3)

Burn Video to a DVD and bring back to restaurant and show owner.

I charge $497 to $797ea.

You can get offline clients by doing offline advertisement. Print a maximum number of templates related your products or services and put these ads on traffic places, where more and more people can easily see your ads. Another thing, you can directly contact the business owner for their work.

I think these are the best way for getting offline clients.

What you say has merit but sometimes people have no idea where to start.

True, others are just squeezing the forum for what they can get. There was one dude who basically had the copywriting forum write his sales letter with no effort on his part. Then he came back a week later with the same sob story on another sales letter. No takers that time.

Personally I have one email that I send out (about 10% reply rate) and I then offer a free trial to the business owner. About half of my free trials result in people taking me up on one of my packages.

My services allow me to outsource my free trial for abut $10 each time. I just kep repeating this process.

Can you offer a free trial? Yes you will get some tyre kickers but you will also position yourself nicely.

That's debatable. Generally speaking free trials attract people
who want something free or at a budget price and they tend
to scare off the people who want a premium service delivered
by the best professionals they can find (premium clients).

If something is working for you then keep doing it (obviously),
but I wouldn't say giving a free trial positions you nicely unless
you want lower paying clients.

I have tried so many different ways to get offline clients from cold calling to direct mail to referrals, to network meetings. I've had some success. However when I switched my business focus to direct mail offerings for local businesses--that's when I started making money. AND I was easily able to cross-sell additional services like SEO, website re design, etc to my group of local business owners.
So I would say do something different to stand out from the crowd of people all trying to sell them on Internet marketing services.--give them nearly instant results with direct mail and you can always prelude into different online marketing services once you've gotten them great results with their DM campaigns.
This is what has worked best for me BY FAR.

I believe working on your advertising, finding out what forms of advertising works the best will be more beneficial. I have personally use newspaper ads to great effect though it costs some money to begin with. So, depending on where you are now in your business, you may need to do some testing in order to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Phone + list of leads + YOU ACTUALLY TRYING UNTIL IT WORKS = New Client

It is the strangest thing that the opportunities that are immediately available to anyone that looks are the exact same ones people avoid. They do all this other BS trying to get a client when the fastest and honestly easiest way is sitting down in a chair and picking up the phone, over and over again, until you get a new client.

You want a new client? Pick up the phone and start dialing.

I own a local online marketing company and as funny as it sounds, when I first started I found most of my clients by Googling companies that had terrible websites, then picking up the phone and calling them.

It's easy to say that an SEO firm should be doing SEO for itself and I agree that one should but SEO is a competitive niche even on a local level. It can take months if not years to establish enough authority to rank within the first few results and by that time you may be out of business.

Face to face relationship marketing is still the most effective way to grow a business in my opinion. Go to networking groups, connect with people who may need your services and do an amazing job with a small group of clients. I can't tell you how many referrals I receive because my clients are happy with our services.

Another piece of advice. It is more important to keep clients than it is to find new ones. The long term value of client is an incredibly important metric to keep an eye on. Find clients that understand your value as opposed to choosing your company because you have the best price. Then do amazing work and good things will happen.

If you are good with SEO, then rank your website where businesses are searching for help with SEO.
Can also use the Facebook PPC campaign, create a landing page and target small business owners.
Lastly, attend Local Business Mixers and Chamber of Commerce Events. All three of those work well for me. :-)

You should market your product or service in the local market in order to ge toffline clients. You should distribute flyers you should give ads in local news paper and stick posters too

It's best to get online contact these days then move them offline. It's very difficult to get people in America to break the ice. They are so superificial. You need a car and a nice watch to get them to believe you these days.
