Where can I get a database?

Hi

I have created a restaurant website system where restaurant owners can create a website for their restaurant themselves. The problem I am having is getting it in front of restaurant owners.

Is there a way to obtain a database of emails where I can send an email to these restaurant owners?

If not does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on the best way to market this to restaurant owners?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated?

Kind regards

The first thing I would do is try to validate your service. You can buy a list from nextmark or advertise in one of the many restaurant publications but once you do that, it still comes down to "what am I going to say to them"

Have you asked any restaurant owners in person what they think and if this is something they would pay money for? When you talk with someone specifically about their pain points or the many different other services that are being offered to them (essentially competing with your offer).

I wouldn't invest any $$ in buying a list until you've gotten 3 restaurants to give you money for your service.

You'll have a ton more insight into what restaurant owners are thinking and why they're signing up with weebly, wordpress, or the local freelancer down the street from them.

Then you can position your offer when you do send them a mailing.

How about just walking into a couple of restaurants in your area and trying to sell the idea to them? You'll quickly realize what their real priorities are, whether they need your service, how to best market the service to them and more importantly if they will spend money on your product/service.

Armed with information from a few restaurants (say 5), you will not find it difficult to come up with a more scalable way of reaching other restaurant owners (you might be shocked to realize that some assumptions you had when building your business are in direct contradiction to practices in the industry - be prepared).

As above. You'll save yourself a ton of heartache and money by taking this advice.

Even more so if you ask a couple of restaurant owners how they think you should approach the problem. You may even find other areas that might be of greater interest to them than a build it yourself website solution.

Just as a footnote.....you HAVE presumably researched to discover that a build it yourself solution is something that the market is needing....haven't you?....have you? NO!!

So you may be trying to sell a solution that is of no interest and that would be bad.

Go into some restaurants about an hour before opening time and do a bit of face to face research. The owner will be around and will give you five minutes.

      Good luck

As far as a database is concerned, I use software to generate my leads for me. I have tried multiple software from the WSO section and can only recommend one: Places Scout

As I am writing this, I realize how salesy it might sound (as if I work for them). Let me assure you I have no interest in the company, i'm just a happy user.

    1. They update on a regular basis
    2. Customer support is awesome - some other WSO's customer service is awful and down right rude.
    3. The software works flawlessly.

I usually harvest anywhere from 10,000 leads to hundreds of thousands(this takes time) of leads across the country. For your project it will more than likely be a lot less.

The last thing to mention would be the price. It is kind of hefty at $197 for the year, but for what I have used it for -- it has made my money back 100-fold. You just have to evaluate if it's worth the investment.

Otherwise you have some other options: Copy data yourself, outsource and have someone else do it, build the scraper yourself, or possibly partner with someone who has software.

Here is the wso link in case you want to check it out (no aff link):

    2. Sales Leads | Company Info | Industry Analysis | Hoovers - they have been in business for many years, owns a database of 85 mil companies. You have limits in terms of data download and they will provide you with a direct email address only for USA. For the other countries, you will have a generic email, such as info@ or office@

    3. B2B Database of Detailed & Accurate Contact Information | ZoomInfo - overall, a decent business directory. It provides direct contact details for companies in UK, USA, Australia and Canada only.
