Im looking to market a mobile app to local buinesses

so there's a ton of "app builders" out there and some seem really legit. my question is what is the best way to market toward local business around me.

I was thinking of cold calling, maybe even a mailer, but i don't know how to target the businesses that would need an app for customers.

What are the methods that have worked for you guys?

in other words, you're trying to do the selling... sales... offering, cold calling, etc. Nothing wrong with that, go for it.
One think, you should give special offer, that's urgent, so people will close the deal right after they know it.
Maybe a temporary discount or something...

What problems will the mobile application solve for them? I'd focus on that rather than just seeing if they have one already or if they want one. When phoning --- the issues you bring up with them, which you can help resolve with your app, will either resonate with someone or not --- if not, then move on.

Remember that while doing cold calls the only way to get customers is to suggest the company something that would benefit and will be useful. You have to explain clearly why they could need your product or service. However, do not concentrate only on that. Don't forget about other marketing tools and strategies.
    Wish you best luck.

  • Marketing your mobile app would depend on two factors

    1. what those businesses need
    2. what the clients of that business needs

Those two factors should be the pain points that you have to address when making your cold call or mailers. Focus on how your app can solve their problems, not what your app can do for them. It would be also good if you could do some research on similar businesses and how their mobile apps worked (or haven't worked) for them. Show them what makes your app different and how it can increase their sales or make them more money.

Mobile is the future in local marketing and I know I don't need to tell you that but don't try to sell the new thing using old techniques. I know lot's of folks on here will go on and on about cold calling and there are tons of threads covering this topic but bottom line today you have to create value and authority before your potential clients are going to listen to your offer.

If you were to survey local businesses today you would find that they are approached by no less than 5 sales people a day trying to sell the latest and greatest new marketing idea. Trust me, business owners don't want to hear your pitch! So, what to do? Create value and authority within your market and clients will search you out. Stop knocking on doors and dialing businesses with the hope that the numbers will result in sales. You will hit a few here and there but look at it this way, you are a professional marketer so go to work and market you, your business and the services you offer. Create some incentives that provide value and resolution to some of the pain points that business owners have in relation to your products and services.

I hate to say it but too many offline marketers spend too much time trying to peddle their services rather than marketing their services.

All I can recommend to you is build your brand and market what you do and businesses will hunt you down. Your in the right niche for sure, you may just want to adjust how you get your clients.

Just a comment from an old marketer

Good luck and hope you knock em outa the park
