Have You An Offer They Can't Refuse? Here's 2 Examples

This subject came up yesterday when crafting an
offer for a speciality cafe owner I was working with yesterday.

He wanted to get as many people in the door as he can with his EDDDM campaign.

But I also wanted him to get as much long term profit out of it too.

Fortunately, he is very savy to marketing
and has things in place to do that.

Before recommending him to give something away for free without condition of a purchase, I told him the story of a baker who gave away a free chocolate ecclear.

The baker was always losing money every time he ran a newspaper ad.

His consultant said to give away something away for free because when they bring in the ad to redeem it, people will buy other things.

And they did.

Now the newspaper ad was very profitable.

Even though he didn't have a means to capture their names to send out ongoing offers.

So after telling this story he warmed up to the idea.

We came up with the 3 days of offers conditional on texting a code when in store.

One day will be a free grass feed beef sandwich,
one day will be a free croissant
one day a free savoury.

When they go into his store,
they have to go past the food display cabinet first to get to the cashier and get their free food.

So it will be likely he would break even.

The cashier can ask "shall I add [food] to that? as an upsell.

The cost of the mailing is being shared by the beef supplier who has a retail shop in the same location.
He will be in store showcasing his grass fed beef.

It's about buying customers and having in place to capture the contact
details to continually offer something.

He has the sparkling social reviews in place,
so he's ready to put out great offers to feed the money making machine.

Next example.

If you sell SEO or PPC management, your hard to refuse offer could be on the lines of...

3 Ways to Lower Your Adwords Cost By 25% And Increase Your Response Rates By 25%.
"If you don't see how that can be done, I'll pay you $100
as a penalty for wasting your time".

Obviously you would of qualified the prospect before
masking such an offer.

What's your "Mafia" style offer?

Best,
Ewen

In our Antique Shoppe I'd run a newspaper ad showing a "$10 Gift Certificate" that could be used towards purchase of ANYTHING in the store.

Sure, some people bought a low-priced item (of which there were very few. We handled expensive, New England Antiques) Our town paper was only published once a week on Thursdays so the Certs expired at 5pm Sat.

Then....every person entering our store was handed a "BROWSER BUCK", good for $1 towards purchase of anything in the store.

And....every purchaser was given a "BEE-BACK" card when they left, good for $1 on any purchase.

Also...a side-benefit to these discounts was .....shoppers stopped asking for additional discounts. We had already given them "something off" so they didn't want to appear greedy by asking for more off.

In Antique Shops, as opposed to other retail shops, shoppers were "conditioned" to ask for discounts....our initial discounts stopped them from requesting more.

And....what got me started in my "Advertising" career was some of the promotions I put together with other merchants.

Ex: I placed a plastic display stand on hotel front desks that offered, "FREE Dinner at any of 3 nice restaurants, with any purchase". (To reach tourists)(These were "2 for 1" deals)

Another "Tourist" thingee was; "Kids Eat FREE Card good at any of 3 restaurants, with any purchase)

Restaurants loved to participate because these brought in NEW diners.
