How I Made Over £26,000 Last Xmas and How I'm Going To Beat It This Year!!!!

After lurking on the Warrior Forum for the past 5 years, buying WSOs and learning tons of stuff from you all, I finally decided to signup properly today and give you Offliners the plan I followed last year to make over £26,000 in December 2012. I plan on beating that this year and I'm going to show you how I am going to do it!

The whole idea is to capitalise on the Xmas festivities and offering businesses a free service that they decide they would actually prefer to pay you for instead of taking the free option.

We have less than 2 weeks left for this method to work so we have to act quickly. We are going to roll out a 12 Days of Christmas Campaign in our local area. Now don't go crazy and think, why are we limiting this to only 12 days, we could do this for every day of the month. That's the marketer in you trying to maximise every opportunity and that will actually hurt you! You see, EVERY marketing campaign needs a strategy behind it and if you're deciding to run specials and giveaways everyday, that gets really old FAST, especially in a small local community, it no longer feels special anymore. The 12 Days of Christmas Campaign works because it happens ONLY one time a year, just think of Black Friday, it's a ONE TIME event.

So here goes, the 12 Days of Christmas Campaign relies on you getting 12 EXCLUSIVE businesses to signup (I'm not saying you're limited to just 12 businesses, only that those 12 businesses will ride the BIGGEST wave and other businesses will also benefit). The premise is that those 12 businesses are going to giveaway a high value item or service as part of this campaign.

The 12 businesses I signed up last year were:
  • Jeweller (put up a set of earrings or watch depending on if it was a man or woman who won)
  • Photography Studio (gaveaway a family photo shoot and expensive frame)
  • Chocolate Shop (gaveaway lots of luxury chocolates)
  • Wine Store (gaveaway 12 bottles of wine and champagne)
  • Clothing Store (gaveaway a £500 shopping spree in their store)
  • Lighting Store (gaveaway interior, wall and picture lights)
  • Department Store (gaveaway a set of candle holders and a silver cutlery set)
  • Bakery (instead of a big giveaway, they decided to giveaway multiple items everyday - free mince pies, gingerbread men, Christmas cupcakes and chocolate snowballs etc)
  • Spa (gaveaway a Christmas retreat package in the run up to Christmas)
  • Restaurant (gaveaway a cooking class with the chef in his kitchen)
  • Interior Designer (gaveaway a Feng Shui consultation for your home)
  • Cleaning company (gaveaway a complete house cleaning after the Christmas festivities)

So, for all the above businesses except for the bakery, they were a one item giveaway, the bakery was a 12 day giveaway. The method to giveaway these "12 Days of Christmas Gifts" was to use Facebook and it's social capabilities to make it go viral within your local community. There are technical aspects to this and I am sure that you readers have purchased several tools to make this happen.

The key thing with your Facebook page is to keep posting up pictures and videos on your page to keep engagement high and to keep people interested and your "12 Days of Christmas" campaign on top of their mind. Don't let them forget, if you fail to keep top of mind awareness with them, you will fail to make the businesses who have signed up any goodwill and increase in purchases. This is very subtle, you have to keep them interested without appearing spammy! Don't discount this, because if you are smart, you will use this campaign as a "Growth Hack" to jumpstart your local marketing business in the new year.

During this whole time, if you've done a good job at building your page and keeping the locals participating on your page, you will have plenty of other businesses who are DESPERATE to throw money at you to do the same for them. Your answer should always be NO! You need to keep the integrity of your campaign and you explain that to them, they will understand, however, you can do small little daily sponsorships of your campaign, e.g. today's campaign message is brought to you by "whatever other business" and have a link to their offer. Now, an additional way to monetise here is (you are already being paid by them for sponsoring the campaign on that day), is the link posted needs to go to one of your own web properties with their offer on it, not their's, see how sneaky that is? You will explain that your job is to maintain a "super good user experience" for your Facebook Page Fans and you can only do that if you control the "experience".

Wow! I didn't mean to type that much stuff! Let me know what you think. I'll come back in a bit and explain the rest of the plan, i.e. how I made all that money, how to best upsell, this is all soft sales, nothing extraordinary, if it was, I wouldn't be able to do it! I'll also provide an Action Plan. I've just kickstarted this whole process again today.

I'm going to break away for a few minutes now and chase several outsourcers I've hired to do my graphics for this campaign, not really impressed with any of their work so far. If you can refer someone AMAZING, please PM me.

Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for the post. You have written a lot, that's true, but I have difficulties in following your plan, actually. If you could write out the plan in a step-by-step (1., 2, 3...) manner, it would be much easier to understand where you are going with this and to provide readers with the 10,000 foot view of it. Afterwards, you can elaborate more on the various steps. Just a suggestion to facilitate things.

I am looking forward to learning more...

    Thanks,
    Dan

Thanks for the great share, small businesses have great need for this type of promotion especially this time of year with competing with big businesses during holidays, this is also excellent opportunity to show your marking and promotional skills for additional opportunities to work with local businesses, if you can increase sales in 12 days, imagine what you can do for them in 12 months? Thanks again for the excellent post, can't wait to see future instructions and results.

Great minds think a like, I am just doing the same thing, 12 days of christmas campaign to jumpstart my business in new location, but I was thinking more of - I am giving each day one of my services away - home page ad, facebook ad, email ad, leaflet design with qr - anything that leads them to try out my services and continue in new year.
In a process of course I would advertise them, using their own FB page and instore ads, to leverage their audience.

How are you going to promote the giveaway? I don't understamd also how the business makes money by giving away the watch etc -are you hoping to just generate buzz around them?
