What B2B industries don't think of marketing as important?

Many folks in this forum have more business experience than myself, so I wanted to pose this question to you. What B2B companies or industries are notoriously anti-marketing/ incompetent about marketing in general?

Thanks for your insight

    anti marketing......i don't think any business is.

    networking

    things like investment banking,
    private equity,
    hedge funds
    Commodities

    etc...most of these just have a token site. not interested in p.p.c./s.e.o.,etc.

    I think most do however there are certain industries that just spent less on marketing than others e.g Mining, Arms, Shipping etc. These are industries that intrinsically spend elsewhere on the production process an so-on.

    Any business that cold calls on other business as its primary method to generate leads and new business is most likely ignorant, or against, non-cold techniques to generate leads.

      They all think marketing is important. Most of them just don't really understand what marketing is.

      I can attest to this. The last company I worked at generated nearly all of their business from outbound calling. They did nothing at all as far as marketing goes.

      Pretty funny though, they saw a huge jump in inbound leads when someone would post an article about them...but they did nothing about it

        I think there are still many in the medical/dental profession who think that marketing is beneath them. Fortunately more and more are realizing that they need to market but you will still find plenty that are anti-marketing or if not anti-marketing think that any marketing other than their name, credentials and phone number is unprofessional.

    I can't imagine any business that is anti-marketing. There may be some but I think you would have to think long and hard to find one. I would think that if a business is anti-marketing they probably are out of business. Now I can say over the years I have walked into a few businesses that I got the impression the business owner was anti-Marketing but I think it was more anti-salesperson.

    I must say though that I was curious as to why you asked this question?
