MY prototype for a new sock that is 100% waterproof is being created as we speak....
After the prototype is made it'll be sent to Pennsylvanian to a US factory to be mass produced.

Any of you guys have a preference in design or color? Just looking for some preference input

A more accurate judge of what will sell,
is go to sites that have a list of bestsellers
    and use their colors.

    Drink manufacturers do that.

They know there is always favorite flavors.

No point in changing what the public voted for,
    with their money.

    Best,
    Ewen

  • If you're making these socks for kids too I think you should also do some in white. I can imagine those sock can be really helpful during the rainy season.

Do you have a patent or a patent in process? I'm going to assume your post could just be an attempt to get clicks to your signature link. Seriously.

My problem with this idea is who the hell wants waterproof socks ?
Your feet need to breath and if they do not you get athletes foot beside didn't you ever hear of waterproof boots ?

I wish you all the luck in the world but I think it is a very bad idea and investment...

Not sure if serious but if so.

    1. Black and white as main colors. Brown & Navy as well if you think there is a dress market (don't think their would be).

    2. Get your patents in order. Don't even take another step until you are protected and sure you are not infringing.

    3. You need to test the market maybe even before manufacturing. If you are not sure how to do this a very basic example is given in The 4 Hour Work week. Basically you sell them before you manufacture and list a long shipping and handling time. Or you test the sales page out but when they "buy" you have them sign up for a waiting list since you are out of stock.

    4. Not sure of your budget but you may need to partner up with a bigger business to take these mainstream.

    Good luck.

It is a real product (keeps water out and wicks inner moisture) and a quick perusal on Google shows:
The one's on the market seem to come in black only.
SealSkinz seems to be the market leader.
    NOT affiliated:
    SealSkinz ® Waterproof Socks Fleece-lined - GEMPLER'S
    REI sells them as well.
There are also versions for scuba divers.

It could be a market differentiator to offer colors.
I'd say black, brown, navy and white for men.
Black, burgundy, blue shades, and white for women.

Look at outdoor socks in general for the market desires.

    Survey your market once developed.

Good luck with this. Hope you've vastly improved upon what is available
and have competitive edges and patent protection and retailers/distribution channels...

I was just about to write about the Great British Company Sealskinz but I see someone already has.

      http://www.sealskinz.com/UK/

Just make them various colours. Pink or something.

Anyway, this is a Golf Shop owner in the UK demonstrating them.

      Dan

PS: He had been selling them for 2 years in this 3 year old video and I just checked he is still selling them so that is 5 years. And he is not the only golf shop in the UK, there's hundreds of them.

Ive been using waterproof socks for 3-4 years now. Get a pair or 2 every Christmas. I work outside most everyday, and there is nothing worse then wet cold feet let me tell you!

As far as a color suggestion, the only I have ever gotten are Black, and for work boots that's more than fine.

Cut-Resistant Hockey Sock Compression Socks by Swiftwick

they are doing well too. did a nice specialized 'cut proof' from ice hockey blades.

i think there is plenty of room to market 'waterproof' socks. as long as they can breath to prevent sweating and condensation on the inside of them.

hunting market is huge, hiking, cross country, downhill skiers, military etc.... sign up Les Stroud or Bear Grylls, they'll sell a million of em.

This highlights an issue w/ budding entrepreneurs I see ALL the time, they slave away at finding an idea, then many give up an idea when they see even just 1 measly other person doing it in the world, especially w/ online. Success is 99% or more execution. So what if 1 or a even handful of companies are doing something similar. Billions of people have never heard of waterproof socks. In the history of mankind there is rarely an instance where 1 person comes up with something totally new and capitalizes on it. No need to reinvent the wheel, just find something a bit new and sell the heck out of it.

I have never heard of them until this thread and recently a FB post by a hockey buddy on the cut proof hockey socks. Now I am going to buy a pair or two of them.

Like Burger King or Wendys not trying since Mcdonalds was already in fast food. Or Southwest Airlines not trying since there was Delta, United, and American airlines. Or a dry cleaner not opening up because there was one nearby. Heck, isn't there a dry cleaner on nearly every corner?

To the OP, I'll be your beta tester for your socks. I play hockey, downhill ski, hunt, golf etc.... Feel free to contact me to send a couple test pairs!
