    Keyword Proximity is a count of the distance between keywords on the webpage.
    The idea is that the how closer the two keywords to each other give more relevant the page.

      Keyword Proximity looks at the location of a keyword in a page, how often it is used, and how far apart each use is. As an example, on your basic web page you want approximately 600 words. you want to try and place your keyword at the top, 150 word mark, the 300 word mark, the 450 word mark and as close to the end as possible.

          I was specifically speaking the use of the key word in you text body. Ultimately you are going to use your keyword / keyword string through out the building of a page. URL, Meta Tag, Image Tag, in site link name, out bound link name etc.

          The other variables at play are keyword density, and keyword frequency. as much as these are factors in keyword proximity, they are also used separately.

          Spiders read a page from top to bottom, left to right. In your source code you want the keyword / keyword string A) as close to the top as possible and B) and close to the bottom as possible. The others in between you want to space as evenly as possible. Following this gives you good density, good frequency, and an overall good keyword proximity.

          Just to clarify your 12 to 15, I believe the current count is somewhere from 16 to 21 / 22 overall. Shooting for a solid 18 is a good target to shoot for.
