Hey guys and gals,

Does anybody know a good one?

I have a start up who can really use an affiliate program + manager. Essentially to run the whole thing for them behind my company, hence the white label.

    anyone?

need someone to come in and set up my clients affiliate program, get them installed in the various affiliate site like shareable, CJ, LS etc and to manage it and a big plus is if they can bring super affiliates into the fold. my client has a really neat offering and can really explode...they have tried local informercial, and direct mail, but i think they can really crush it with the right affiliate program.

I am open to sharing the thought-process behind it and any questions warriors may have to also make this a more fruitful thread.

Right, but not looking for affiliates per se yet. Need to have someone establish the program into place, then have a group of niche blogs who can test it. Conversions from direct mail and infomercial are not that great. And it's more to do with their message and offer than anything else.

I think the affiliate program will work quite well for their kind of offerings. It's similar to a as seen on TV popular product, but much better quality and they have been trying to sell it in the wrong way as stated above.

      This is great advice.

You still don't have a proven seller. The business model has not been validated for this product. You are putting the cart before the horse.

Happens all the time and is almost always the quickest path to failure.

The thing is, you THINK affiliate marketing will work. Sure, you may be making an educated guess, but you do not KNOW it will work.

What's worse - you THINK this product can be sold a certain way, but you do not KNOW it can.

Before spending all the time/money setting all this up - you should be helping them test and tweak the message, figuring out if your approach will even work.

Keep testing many different things until you KNOW what works for this particular product, and THEN invest money into that proven method.

I help startups, and this is by far the most common fatal mistake. You think you know what will work. A major push should never be invested in until there is validation of the product, the message, and the market insertion strategy.

It has nothing to do with intelligence. Even the largest companies are testing and validating something until they KNOW that if they pitch something a certain way, it will sell to those people using that method.

If all the money is spent setting up the affiliate program, I would wager there is a greater than 90% chance the program will fail. So far, you have no idea what WILL work, you only know what has NOT worked so far.

For most startups, this kind of mistake drives a stake in the heart.

Yes, I agree. Without having any idea or metrics in place we would be in the blind. However, we are not exactly in that state currently. The company is quite established, but in start up mode as it pertains to actually selling their goods. What I mean is that they are basically a R&D company who have figured out some niche markets that will convert and will convert well. They want to now take advantage of it, but they are all scientists and lab workers. They have a few people who know the market and the offerings and want to bring them in as affiliates to get going...then eventually open it up.

Setting up their e-commerce site and having it as the front-end of the business, we can set up an affiliate program with their circle of competent people to get the ball rolling in the specific niche markets...

So, that's really the process in play right now...and just wondering if there is a person or company who can make sure we are set up properly for the affiliate program.
