What do you do to keep the action rolling

don't know about you but when I get something started I want/need to keep it rolling along, if it hits a buffer ie if I am waiting for funding or some other third party to make a decision before I can move forward more then the energy dissipates and the momentum goes , when Im rolling along everything is fine, when Im sitting waiting for something then having to push start the project(s) again, that's when I struggle .

Im not talking about waiting for prospects/ clients to say yay or nay that's all part of business deals, I mean other things/people that aren't perhaps so controllable but are needed along the way, collaborators to come onboard, mentors/ advisors to help me take the next piece of action , key deicisions needed from legal/ suppliers etc if they don't have the same speed as me (and sometimes that's a good thing not to) then as I say the momentum goes

I happen to be in one of those situations right now. Waiting for some corporate pencil pusher to stamp my piece of paper, so I can get to work. It used to drive me crazy. Now I have diversified enough that I can keep busy with smaller projects. OR, I just head to the garage and bang out product for my etsy store.

Yes, the etsy store was created one other time I was waiting on some other corporate pencil pusher to stamp my piece of paper.

I think a lot can be said for managing time when you are working. More importantly it is how you manage your time when you are waiting for work!

I'm not quite sure what your question is but identifying all the decision makers and stakeholders is critical. Lots of people will pretend to be the sole decision maker. We know this is just not true, though. Almost everybody has someone they bounce ideas off of--their significant other, their CFO, somebody.

Prior to your presentation, ask, "Before we go any further, is there anyone else who should be involved in this conversation? Who this project impacts?"

When I forget to ask this question, I get burned.

Invariably the other person is a tough nut who believes the prospect is a soft-headed idiot who will buy everything that comes along, and the conversation takes a bad turn. The lesson is: involve everyone who should be involved as early as possible in the process. Ask them, "From where you sit, what's the most important thing about ________?" What's most important to one person will NOT be the same to another. And you need to smoke these things out or the project has a poor chance of being adopted.

I know what you mean - as soon as I have to wait for something that was supposed to be delivered by someone else the whole magic of the 'getting it done' is gone and I waste a lot of time!

Like right now, it happen to me what Jason mentioned above- I did ask about the significant other and it still get put on hold.
The second project that was supposed to keep me busy is on hold as well, because 1 person with fricking login details to the site is on holidays and cannot be reached...
the third project that was supposed to be wrapped up already is on hold because of the printer..

.I would say it is just bad luck and coincidence, but it actually prompted me to start developing my new product, that can be sold in the background so to speak and I can market it whenever I have a down time like that.
