Why doesnt the UK business sector embrace Linked In

I am searching on Linked In for some business details, actually for the people who would do staff entertainment for Admiral Insurance , one of the UKs biggest insurance brokers , and searching on companies, only US based Admiral firms come up, not the massive UK one . weird .

why don't UK businesses use LI as it seems many US ones do?

Are UK businesses really so afraid of being marketed to that theyd cut off their nose to spite their face?
By the way Im not even looking to market to them but whereas in US you seem to be able to find companies and their staff easier, here in the UK you're lucky if theres even a business page set up.

They are busy with clients:-) no time for social media :-)
i'm doing local since 2008 and only done my FB page last week. My linkedin ..,.I probably got 3 words on it...

Yes, I'm in UK:-) I know it's hopeless. I'm having hard time to convince them to get opt form on their page....

Sums up how I feel about Linkedin pretty well.

I get Facebook from a personal and even a business prospective.

But with Linkedin unless you are looking for a job (better ways IMO) or in B2B sales (better ways to prospect IMO) it seems a bit pointless.

It is basically a fancy resume and networking tool. For people who want to separate business and personal contacts it has some value but beyond that?

I think as a whole the US seems to put social media on a pedestal. I guess our UK counterparts are just less likely to chase the "next big thing".

Linkedin is good for jobs here, but still ... everybody agrees that they should use it more,, and than promptly forget about it.
