So I've got two lists for prospecting

I'm going to sell digital marketing services, and I've got two lists to call on. One where I can filter companies by turnover and location. And the other list with location and if they have a website.

I want to choose the best of those alternatives as I want to call 1000 companies asap, to get over my fear of cold calling.

Which list do you recommend me to start up with?

The one where you know they have a website. That way, when you cold call, you can say something like "I provide online marketing services to businesses that already have a website".

It will make you sound selective, and it will make it sound like the prospect has to qualify to work with you. It's an approach I use myself.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

If you are doing 1000 calls just to learn.

Pick the list you think is your best list, and then call the other one first.

    a) no sense in blowing out your good leads.
    b) who cares if you screw up.
    c) it will make you sharper and faster with your replies ( more polished )
    d) imagine how good you will feel when you make your first sale.

Now if your really calling to make sales. Forget A - D and do what Claude says.

Go with the one which has websites.

Those which have a history of buying similar products and services
are always much better than those which have no history of doing so.

Take Ken's advice about practice too.

      Best,

A very astute thought, that simply never occurred to me.
