"Here's how I get all of my clients. It's ugly but it works.."

Hey,

One of the toughest thing about mentoring other
consultants is hearing the heart-wrenching struggles
that many are going through.

Most times when I boil it down to the core problem, it's
usually because they are not consistently doing the right
type of daily activities.

(The reasons why they're not doing those activities
vary dramatically, but the result is still the same. Not
enough money-making activities.)

The "right" type of daily activities are things that
actually lead to sales conversations with business
owners who can hire you.

See, if you don't have a existing database of clients
that sends you referrals or a few monthly contracts
locked in, then you don't have time to waste.

You need to be doing one or more of the following
things every single day of the week (or at least monday
thru friday), or you're just not going to make it.

Here are the seven ways I get business owners that
hire me within 5-7 days after our first conversation:

1. Running banner ads that make offers.
2. Placing print ads that make offers.
3. Mailing offers to prospects.
4. Emailing offers to prospects.
5. Calling prospects and making a offer.
6. Making offers face-to-face.
7. Posting or messaging a offer.

In my experience, those are the seven daily activities
that directly lead to getting hired by business owners.

You don't have to do them all every day but you need
to be doing at least two or three each and every day.

And before I start getting hate mail...

Yes you can do posting, tweeting and video creation
and submissions, but unless you are making a offer that
sells something, you're wasting time.

See, building a lead generation system is not about
doing passive marketing and hoping it works.

I've said it once and I'll say it again:

You need to be making direct offers every day
(although to a rotating prospect list) that sells at
least one of your services.

Okay, I wanted to get into one of the strategies today,
but I've already gone on long enough so tomorrow I'll
starting digging down into each of the seven.

See, you at the top,

Chris

P.S. Yes, you need to still be putting out non-selling
content as forms of mini-lead magnets and doing traditional
lead nurturing, but while you're doing that in one place online
or offline, you need to be direct selling somewhere else.

Every. single. day.

Thanks Chris this is so simple yet so true.

I'd be really interested to hear what you are doing with banner ads to get offline clients. I have quite a bit of display media buying experience and am just putting together a plan now of how that channel could be used to drive leads.

    Cheers!

    Great post.

Isn't it funny how if you make it a habit every day to try to sell something that you make sales.

I cannot count how many deals I have closed that appeared dead by sending an email at lunch time saying "Hey Steve an opening just popped up in our schedule so thought I would give you first crack at getting started on that project we discussed last month."

Selling offline is about timing as much as it is about offer. No today can easily be a yes next week.

    Thank you for this.
It's really frightening how much time one wastes just "Trying" to get started.
As Chris has pointed out... do actually what will bring you sales and keep at it.

Personally I don't have my system yet, and my consulting business has not gotten of the ground, but I hadn't realized just how much time I have been wasting doing none productive activities that do nothing for the bottom line.

I also work (my job) as an assistant for a First Data sales agent. We go out and walk in on businesses every day... and just like Mr plessard said, sometimes selling is as much a question of timing as the offer being presented.

Thanks for your posts and information guys, it helps me gain further focus on what I'm trying to accomplish.

    Cheers,
    Homero
