In case you ever worry if you can increase a business' revenue

Hi Gang

I just cold called some businesses (personal trainers, photographers, gardeners etc), and the first 7 I called didn't answer the phone!

As we all know, telling them to answer the phone can instantly increase their revenue...imagine what happens with all the other stuff we know

Cheers
Phil

      Thanks Phil,

      Great post

As a matter of interest was it their mobile or their landline that they weren't answering?

I usually tell my clients to put their mobile number uppermost in all their offline/online advertising so they don't miss any calls!!

Failing that I recommend they arrange a call-divert with their telecoms provider so that any unanswered calls to their landline automatically get diverted to their mobile after say the first 3 or 4 rings.

Doing it this way - they shouldn't miss any calls.

Most of them were mobile numbers. And guess what, despite calling them from my mobile so they would have my number, not one person called back to see if I was a potential prospect or not. ALL of these were people pay for an advert in yellow pages...why bother if you're not going to pick up the ruddy phone lol

Did their voicemails ask for a message?

It is possible their schedule is full (personal trainers this time of year that could be true, the others not as likely) and they simply don't have any openings but they should have a message that says as much.

"This is Aaron Doud. I cannot come to the phone right now. If you are a current client please leave a message and I will call you back within 24hr. For all others please visit aarondoudwaitinglist.com to be put on our waiting list for when openings become available. Thank you." beep

My calling team targets pizzeria's daily and it's amazing how many do not answer. There's just no excuse for that.

That is just so sad. But it happens. Even busy pizza places don't invest in simple technology to handle call overloads. Always amazes me how places that reply on the phone like a pizzeria don't have an automated system that picks up after so many rings.

"Thank you for calling Aaron's Pizza. A member of our staff will be answering your call shortly so please stay on the line." Then go into a "specials" hold message that is on repeat. Very simple to set up.
