This subject line to cold email lists
is the winner by a BIG margin...

------------------
A letter for (name)
------------------
Has a very personal touch
and no commercial intent.

Try it and see how it goes for you.

Best,
Ewen

    Interesting.

A letter still sounds kid of formal to me.

I wonder if they tested it against subject lines like

    (name) by itself nothing else
    a note for (name)

    Ron

It may, but it also sounds so old fashioned it creates curiosity...
      maybe.

Who knows...it just works when sent to cold lists.

Joe Polish reported emailing follow ups where the subject line was only the recipients' first name and it did well. I've tried that and found the same.

I've received emails with just my first name and I usually do open them. That idea wouldn't work for bulk email if in the US because it wouldn't comply with Can Spam act but it could be used for your own optin list.

Are you talking about manually sending? I've noticed that name insertion with mass emails doesn't really get the same deliverability.

I'll be sending a campaign today, might as well split test and post my results.

The biggest issue I've seen with cold emails, isn't the subject line at all... and rarely even the content inside the email. Bigger factors include deliverability, time sent, format (mobile compatible) and from name as far as overall performance goes.

These aren't mass emailed, they are manually sent to a email with a persons name in it.

The emails are found and sent by a outsourcer who won't charge if the email bounces back.

The opening sentence is asking if he wants to see a case study of a fellow business owner turning x investment into x amount of dollars in 60 days.

Added that the person was new and had other things traditionally against him.

Another key point every request gets followed up with a phone call.

      Best,
      Ewen
