Offline Dinner: Warrior Event 2014

For those of us going to the Warrior Event next month I wanted to put together a time for us to meet up over dinner and drinks one night.

I was thinking Friday night would be good as most of us will likely be networking with the main crowd on Sat.

I figure by 6 or 7pm everyone should be there and a few should have cars. So who is up for a nice dinner with just those of us from this section?

For those who are game:
  • What time is best?
  • Restaurant Suggestions?
  • Flying in or Driving?
  • Willing to be a DD?

Time: Haven't booked my flight but I should be to the hotel by 6

Restaurant: Never been to the area. Anything under $100/meal is fine with me. Over that I would even be game honestly.

Flying: I haven't booked yet and I will not be getting a rental car.

DD: I don't drink so I am willing to be a DD

I won't be there until Saturday; driving up in the early AM, staying overnight and returning Sunday PM

    Add an extra night :p

I might even fly up Thurs night if people will be around Friday during the day. I can get really cheap flights that more than make up for the extra night in the hotel.

I missed this post earlier, Aaron.

There will definitely be people around the hotel Friday, that's when the mad arrival rush will be happening.

Some folks come in even earlier, like Wed/Thurs. I'll be there Thursday.

Claude just told me that we needed to be there in time for this big dinner event. But since he's a bit older, we'll be leaving by 8:30

You guys can cruise over to the mall next door and choose from quite a few different and tasty dinner spots..

There's a tavern just BEHIND that mall that some folks like to steal away to for some privacy.

And of course, the hotel restaurant itself will be hoppin' Friday night where they've got a "Mafia Room" in the back (that's what we all call it, lol).

Looking forward to seeing Claude and Jason, and meeting Aaron and Tom (I don't *think* we've met yet, have we?)

    Good times comin', fellas.

    Best,

    Brian

The 7th Annual Warrior Live Networking Event, coming up in Raleigh March 22-23rd. It's commonly referred to as the "Warrior Event"

There's probably a link to it somewhere nearby if you look.

I haven't seen anything until now, too bad it's on the opposite side of the country. Next time have it in LA or Las Vegas

They have these cool contraptions now where you can walk onto them in LA or Vegas, sit down and in be in North Carolina in just a couple of hours.

          Haw!

I can drive to LV or LA for under $60 versus a $600 flight. Do they do it on the east cost every year?

              I hear you, dude.

I know it represents an investment of time and money to travel to events. But there really is no better investment for getting connected and staying connected to the people making things happen in our community and industry.

That's why we do them (did them).

Do they do it on the east cost every year?
They is ME, along with my co-host Sam England.

We've done 4 in Raleigh (counting this one) since 2011 and one in Orlando in the fall of 2012.

              This is the LAST one.

Personally, I think you should do a survey. Have one event in every city that an attendee lives. Sure, that's 200 or so events a year...but you'll increase the chance of a local person attending by 10%.

            I'm a marketing genius.

            Guys;
The low room rate makes up for any flight costs. There. I just went to a Ryan Deiss event where the discounted room rate was $200 a night. I was on a plane for 7 hours, each way, to get to San Diego.

This hotel is $69 a night, including the hooker.

And people are flying in from other countries to be at this Warrior Event. Don't bitch.

Bumping this up to see who will be there Friday night.

I will be coming down via car with Claude and Tom. I know Ron will be driving up as well. I'm working on at least the 4 of us meeting up.

Who else wants to get in on a fun friday night?

I no longer travel but for those who attend I hope you ALL have a total BLAST! You know what would be nice though? Is a live interactive streaming thingy for those who would like to attend but can't.

You guys have a safe drive and looking forward to seeing you all in NC.

I fly out to Raleigh tomorrow afternoon.

I hear you, Rus - I wish it weren't such a logistical pain in the rear end to make happen. We looked into it several times but hotel internet bandwidth is always the bottleneck and setting it up privately is cost-prohibitive for the relatively small number of people who want it.

We ARE recording the presentations and you'll be able to get those afterwards, however.

      Best to all,

      Brian

Somebody print out a photo of Rus and bring it with them.

Every time we shoot a quick phone video, get Rus in there.

At dinner, make sure Rus orders, too.

On the way home, let's hear from Rus and see what he thought about the weekend...

          Hehe.

            I'm temped.

Maybe I should go buy one of those $20 blow up dolls that Spencer's sells and put his face on it.

    Hey Brian,

The warrior events seem to be popular and successful. How come you decided to make this the last one and discontinue these events in the future?

      Hey Riz,

It's pretty simple really, they're a TON of work to organize. It's literally months of ongoing communication with vendors, speakers, volunteers, attendees, sponsors, hotels, and on and on and on.

I imagine it's the same reason for Eric Louviere (who hosted the first Warrior Event in Austin in 2008) and Jack Tackett (who hosted the second Warrior Event and moved it to Raleigh in 2009).

I'm pretty proud that quite a few of the folks we put onstage for the first time ever are now running their own successful live events.

I'd rather go to theirs and have ZERO RESPONSIBILITY.
