Want to start my own digital agency? Any Advice?

OFFLINE MARKETING

Hi all,

I am eager to set up my own Digital Agency in Central London, UK to help provide small-medium size businesses with the help they need to develop their business or expand their business online by utilising various Paid Media channels, SEO and Web Design.

I was wondering has anyone any experience in doing this, if so have you got any advice for me?

You will find a TON of advice on here. I'd also recommend finding a REPUTABLE product from a reputable person. Personally I'd recommend Kevin Wilke's "Local Business Money Machine" then he has an association you can join monthly for ongoing training and updates.

Willboy, I started my offline agency a little over two years ago. If you do it right, it can turn into a very profitable business. There are a lot of good resources on this forum.

The best advice I can provide is to build your company so it doesn't need you. Create simple processes for everything. Create training manuals along the way. At some point you are going to need to step away from everything and have the freedom of not being needed for everything operational.

Congrats on your decision to open up shop in London. Before buying anything, I would spend a TON of time reading through the threads here in the offline forum. This forum has been instrumental in my success over the years, there's just a ton of value if you take the time and read through it.

You'll be a better marketer for it. Welcome to the offline world!

I helped create a Social Media Marketing Agency in 2010 Mobile Application Platform and Mobile App Development | Parallel 6
Having a proper fulfillment model in place is VERY important if you want repeat and recurring clients. I would also suggest a sales team to find you clients, it can be too hard to try to do everything yourself. Lastly, if there is something you are skilled at, outsource it with in your company. You want to be know to your clients as the "go to" Internet Marketing Solution.

When you say set up your own agency do you mean office based? or are you going it alone from home?

If I were you starting from scratch I'd select one thing to focus on, either do SEO, Web dev or PPC and expand into other areas as you gain clients.

The reason for this is not necessarily fulfilling the services, but the sales process of selling these different services will take a lot out of you, its better to try to sell 1 thing and specialise in it.

Of course all of this is pointless if you're planning on having an office with sales staff as they can handle it all for you, at which point you have a whooooole set of new problems to concentrate on.

I really like this book too, The Marketing Agency Blueprint: The Handbook for... some of it is a little pretentious but the foundations are solid.
