Thomas, people are suspicious of free software trials as
it either sounds to good to be true, nobody give things away for free
or has little to no value.

Charging some money, building up the value proposition
and remove risk of time wasted will help.

    Best,
    Ewen

      Hey Ewenmack,

It seems you got experience with Linkedin.
You think it's a good platform to promote "How to Make Money" offers?
      Thank you!

I'll let Ewan answer you but I think this would be one of the worst places for the typical make money offers! Why? Because linkedin is mainly senior managers, ceo's, md's and business owners with a average earning of $70K! They are a savy and suspicious crowd on there as well.
However if it's making money by investing type of offfer then linkedin may have some merit.

I had the same thought, but thank you for confirming it.

I agree with Richard, I think alot of linkedin members probably happy with careers and financial situation. However I wouldn't mind trying marketing business related services, like email marketing providers, advertising services etc.

Just be as specific as possible. It's better to create 10 ads reaching 100 prospects than 1 ad reaching 1000 prospects.

With LinkedIn ads you can target by state and profession title. Create an ad for each state you'd like to target and for each professional.

In the ad copy, test if mentioning the state they're located in creates a better CTR.

    Hope that helps!

The fact that you make your money later doesn't invalidate Ewan's point. I get lots of offers, some to try something for free. So do many other people. Which means, you need to stand out... fast.

I download a lot of free software, meaning to check it out later. Later never happens... unless I paid for it or the software developer or seller made sure I do - Notice, I said paid or... You don't like Ewan's idea, do it some other way. But FREE must be sold too.

Personally I have had very poor success with LinkedIn ads. I'll test them every so often, and no matter what tweaks I make, I'll get 1 or 2 clicks out of 25-30K impressions. And you can safely assume that my message and my target is carefully refined. for whatever reason, I simply cannot get the response out of LinkedIn Ads.

However, and that's a big however, making regular valuable posts into groups affiliated with your target audience, like accountants, or whatever, is truly a goldmine. I will get a huge response from there.

I gave away a free report to the UK solicitors (lawyers) group and had 234 sign-up's from it in 2 weeks leading to 16 paying clients. You have to position yourself by knowing the industry (my dad was a lawyer for 40 years!), their speak and their 'pain' points. If you do and can offer them a solution as I did in a small free report then linkedin works great.

Great job. Just to confirm, you did that with a Linkedin ad, giving away the free report?

If you can, target to specific companies and of course incorporate them in the ad copy. Here are some results I've got from an ad I just started.
