How would you recruit affiliates for this non IM product?

Hey guys,

I think this section has some of the most creative minds and warriors
who have succeeded in the real world so I thought I would ask here.

I'm helping a friend's company promote their new affiliate program,
for an established product.

The products are training videos in the sporting/outdoors niche.
They've been in business a long time, have a great reputation,
and are already doing very well.

The training videos would appeal to people in the
outdoors/hunting/firearms enthusiasts/fishing/survival/preppers/
markets.

Already plan to do the obvious:

-press releases to industry publications,
-contacting websites/blogs/forums with high search rankings/traffic in niches.
-getting on affliate directories in niches.
-contacting online vendors in those markets.
-contact facebook group admins in these niches with large
-possibly some paid targeted ads on FB.

Other than the press releases, paid ads, most of these methods involve
slow one-on-one contact. I'm looking for more ways to reach a lot of
potential affiliates at once to scale things more quickly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Ron

Ron, does this have anything to do with 'offline'?

Any good product with a reasonable conversion rate will be attractive to affiliates. Run your own traffic first to prove the numbers and then approaching them will be easy.

Yes I thought I did because this is an offline product, but maybe I was wrong. Didn't think I would have to do my own numbers since the companies who would most likely promote understand their customers and the match this product would be.

      Thanks for responding

You're dealing with two things; people who understand affiliate marketing and people who you're selling on the idea of being an affiliate.

In both cases it's better to show how much can be earned promoting your offer.

Poke around clickbank a little, click the 'affiliates' links in the footers of various sales letters and you'll see the standard pitch and breakdown.

Contact affiliates and converting them to jump on board is not all that easy. You need to prove yourself in numbers to, or at least promote for others before they do the same back. Affiliate relationships are supposed to be built over the long haul.

Contact relevant business owners. E.g. outdoors shops, fishing shops etc.

They often have a bunch of flyers lying around the place anyway. If you approach them with a legitimate offer, and incentivise it correctly, they'd be more than happy to put a flyer with each new sale that they make.

Since these people don't tend to know so much about the "affiliate world", they won't need so much convincing, as they don't have vendors approaching them every day.

Then, (as people have already mentioned), make sure you gather the numbers, to promote more experienced affiliates.

We are finding pretty good success finding the top blog owners through google searches and contacting them.
