How Many Emails Per Day Are You Guys Sending?

I am getting back into offline marketing, my current focus is offering mobile websites or website re-designs to local businesses. Right now everyday I am going through Google and finding businesses to contact, if they don't have an email address I have been keeping a list of numbers to call. I would prefer to work by email for now since I don't have time to cold call during the day.

How many emails/calls are you guys doing everyday, and what is your return like ?

The more calls the better off you will be. You need to make atleast 60 calls a day imo. Emails atleast once a day.

Maybe I am just misunderstanding here: you are making a list of phone numbers because they do not have email an address listed, but you do not want to call them and prefer to send an email to a non-existent email address?

I really don't know what to say other than you may have to find an hour or two each day to do some calling.

Edit: I've resigned to just save my email process to after making a solid connection with a prospect that I know will be a participant in the email conversation. Otherwise my experience has been lousy with attempting to make first contact with it (may be due to a lot of factors admittedly, but still a lot of energy is spent for the response rate in my experience).

60k or so a week. Better find a way to automate, because manually sending them isn't going to cut it. Calls, maybe 2K/week.

60k per week? There isn't even that many businesses in my city, let alone ones that need websites.

Congratulations. Figuring out the infrastructure and process needed to send that much email effectively is no simple task.

      Hi
I agree it depends on need also if the email is well written and everything is it is clearly quotes and in detail then there is no need to do spamming and send bulk emails however a good quality email can bring you lots of clients.

Yes, a good campaign and a good email can make a big difference to the replies you got. I have used email mainly before, and sometimes it is all about how you approach the business.

People you think would need a website, often don't see the value. Over 50% of the people that buy from me, you would never think they'd need a new website. They have problems even if it looks great. Maybe it's not search engine friendly, maybe they can't make updates, maybe its slow, no mobile version, etc.

Indeed. People think that email is the answer because its so easy to do, but with any decent volume, it isn't easy at all. Lots of frustration along the way. Pulling off email as a way to bring in leads with a non opt in list, is probably one of the hardest things you could do.

Once you're at a 10k list, you start to notice a few leads coming in. Around 30k is when you can count on some regularly sales from the mailings... at 60k, you're pretty much set. I'd probably be around 120-130k emails now, but I always clean the list from low performing industries. It's amazing how the open rates can drastically vary across different industries.

Yep, I target people in all 50 states in the US. Never really have just targeted local people. I tend to waste time with local businesses, they want you to stop in, or they want to come by the office, or meet for lunch, and it's just a lot of unnecessary time involved.

I have used Bob Ross's 9X12 method locally though, but its very low maintenance and not time consuming with something so straight forward.

What's your email getting strategy? Ads, solo emails, CL, scraping, FB, LinkedIn? If you don't mind sharing...

They answered most of your questions, but I will say that emails do work. And while it is tough to close clients just starting out, you learn from experience to close clients and get them to pay you.

When I was just starting out, I worked for a startup that sold relatively high-demand items in a low-competition niche market. I sent out about 1.5k emails per week and closed enough sales to earn a living. When I knew they were ready to buy I would call them up, take down their information, and process the order. It was a two minute phone call. Your mileage may vary depending on the market you're in.

I eventually left the company to pursue other things, but it was a pretty good learning experience.

    Approx 4-5 Million per day....
very small return per email, but multiply that by millions...
even at 1/100th a penny per email, that's big money...
approx. $500 per day (but it costs a lot to maintain that many incoming opt-ins tho)

    have fun!

I recently counted up the number of emails I'd received from a very well know internet marketing "guru" and I was surprised to note that I'd received 259 emails in 205 days - the persistence paid off because eventually after that time I made my first purchase! It enlightened me to see how frequent the emails had been. I'm not sure that would be the optimum for every list - however, it seems to be working for him!

    I have a Current USA Business Directory...(1.5 M)
but not sure about where to get one for the UK.

in the USA and Canada, our Local Libraries usually have Business databases ...
and all you need is a library card...

just go to one with a website, and look around...
