SMS Appointment Reminders or Confirmations

Hello everyone,

I've been dabbling with the idea of offering SMS appointment services to business who have repeat visitors.

I have a partner and we seem to have a minor disagreement. Briefly...

When you offer an SMS appointment reminder, are you just reminding the client and assuming that because they will see it they will attend their appointment? Or do you offer a method where the client will text back to confirm the appointment?

Would love to hear from those who have experience with this.

Thanks
Peter

You can send the message with a reply "c" to confirm only, or reply "m" to miss an appt. Or an "R' to re-scchedule. or "b" for behind (running late. They obviously have to reply in this case. you can optionally add them to an opt in list if you wish. Simple.

Thanks! What I'm actually asking is which is more efficient. Is a reminder on it's own ideal to have less no shows or do you still have to get a confirmation.

A reminder reduces no-shows by itself. However, the number of no-shows could be further reduced by doing what mobilemechanic suggested.

I get all kinds of reminders every day. Some I pay attention to, actually remind myself to do, others I see/hear them but am focusing only partially... I end up reminding myself but not actually doing anything...

Well you can really go either way.
The text reminder could ask the client to confirm, or if they need to reschedule you can ever ask them to reply with a date/time that is better for them.
