How I made $600 in one week using offline marketing

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd share my techniques on how I managed to make $600 using offline marketing. Ok lets begin:

So basically I had a really small budget which consisted of $25. The costs involved were:
  • Domain = $5
  • Flyers = $20

I went out looking for a CPA offer online, one that paid out at least $1 a lead. I found a college loan offer which was an email submit. It paid out $1.50 per lead.
I purchased a domain related to the offer with the keywords in it.
I got the link for the CPA offer and linked it with my domain so that my domain redirects to the CPA offer.
I then made a flyer design for the offer (well, not me but someone on Fiverr.)
There was some information on the flyer with a call to action on it which said "visit this site."
I then paid some guy from a local university to put the flyers up anywhere from the walls, campus, trees, etc.
And that was it.

I got around 580 people to sign up to the offer which made me an easy $600. I'm still making income with it but not as much. Probably around $30-40 a week with it now.

Just thought I'd share it to let you know how simple and cheap it is to get started with internet marketing.

Thanks, Zak.

    Zak,

Good stuff men. Now you just have to continue to post flyers to get more and more leads for them to get paid per new opt in.

Long term, this is not the way to go. You need to build some sort of a residual income business online.

    Good luck.

Nice Idea but I agree this could be ramped up.

He could place his own sign-up form 1st to collect the email addresses, then pass it on to the CPA offers. I realize, this may reduce the sign-ups, but if he at least gets the initial sign-up, he has future attempts at his list to get sign-ups for other offers.

Flyers does work very well in some cases. I have personally made lots of money with flyers.
Congratulations for the success with flyers.

Actually no, the flyers were done cheaply. They were not of high quality; they were done on paper so the costs were extremely low. I received 10,000 flyers for $20 because my friend offered to do it cheaply.

If I was to do the flyers of high quality material, then yeah it would be unlikely to get an 100% conversion like you said which is impossible anyway, I did find some flyers which were priced at $10 for 250 so yes I know what you mean but no, I got them really cheap.

You should give me the link to your friend's site for printing. Order myself a few thousand flyers before he runs his business into the ground with such cheap prices.

And to be honest, I would have more from the offer but I don't know if the CPA network shaved or not. There's no way to tell really as they may hide clicks etc. However I'm happy with the outcome and find this a good short term success.

Anyhow, you would spend way more than $20 on 5.8k fliers.

My estimate: you would get 500 flyers for $20 if you get a really good deal.

To get 580 signups out of 580 flyers is very unlikely.

      Nice try though
I definitely agree. Even low quality flyers wouldn't cost that cheap. 580 students is a lot of students as well, I seriously can't see this kind of conversion happening.

Perhaps he's a scam, but he didn't actually say that he handed out flyers individually. He had them placed on bulletin boards. Universities are big places, with tons of people. You get a good ad, on a few well chosen walls and his story could add up. 50 fliers could = thousands of views.

Yes, I had to ask for permission to use offline marketing for my choice of marketing. For most of the offers, they didn't allow it but then I found one that did. Also the CPA network is MaxBounty for those who are asking. Just ask your affiliate manager and hear what they have to say about using offline methods.

This sounds a little unbelievable to be honest.

    Costs:
You said you had $25, circa £16.

    • domain = £3.20
    • 10,000 flyers = £13
    • flyer design from fiverr = £3.20

You're already over budget just there.

    • and then on top of those expenses you paid "some guy" to distribute the flyers

    Your numbers don't add up

    Timescale:
    In just 1 week you:

    • register domain
    • get flyer designed
    • get flyers printed
    • get flyers delivered to you (print and delivery would be 2 days at the very minimum)
    • find "some guy" willing to distribute 10,000 flyers for you presumably in less than a single day and for no pay whatsoever (see below)
    • got 580 opt ins

    Your timescale doesn't add up

    Further:
10,000 flyers would not be £13 even if the paper was the absolute wafer thin 80gsm. For somebody to basically gift you 10,000 flyers means they absorbed their true cost, probably about £60 at the absolute very least (if they are the wafer thin 80gsm paper). Hmmm.

And then on top of that you said you paid "some guy" to put up the flyers around university, really? How much did you pay this "some guy"? Because you said you only had a £16 budget which you had already spent before paying "some guy" as per your own apportioning of costs. Where was this random guy and why was he so keen to work for free?

It also sounds like he must have worked really hard to distribute all 10,000 flyers in a single day. Judging by your description he literally put these flyers up everywhere, that sounds like real exertion on his behalf, and to do all that for no pay....

    I could go on.

Your story just sounds fake. Maybe it isn't though, maybe this is a true story but you've just described it poorly. However, when you consider the alleged budget, the alleged timescale and the alleged execution of the project, your story just doesn't sound believable.

makes me laugh that people are so quick to criticize when some one makes a claim without asking for anything in return, YET loads of people fall over themselves to leave great reviews and testimonials in the wso section, many of them without even trying the product out, and ban or report anyone that disagrees with them.

Show us where the people calling bs on this story fell all over themselves to post great reviews for WSOs they didn't try. Show some evidence any of them tried to ban anyone who disagreed with them. You're the one taking the cheap shot with nothing behind it; just an empty assertion, apparently because you want to believe the OP in spite of the obvious problems with the story.

The people criticizing are doing so with plenty of evidence; the built in obvious contradictions and absurd claims in the OP's story. It just makes no sense for the reasons already stated. Most Warriors are delighted to pat someone on the back for a great success story, but an obvious made up one detracts from the quality of the forum, and people are absolutely right to point it out.

I would've run a higher-margin pay-per-call student loan offer. But great work nonetheless.

The numbers don't add up as Kmalo stated, but I believe you were still profitable, and have a legit concept.

Really? But then you have to ''master'' the metrics, keyword set up, demographics etc. Not so down to earth as a flyer campaign in my opinion.

This makes no sense. If you really turned $25 into $600 in a week you would be scaling it across the US on a massive scale, re-investing that $600 and making thousands a week instead of $30-$40 a week as you say you make now. Cannot believe some people here believe this.

Did anyone else do the rest of the math?
    580 conversions @ $1.50 each = $870

Where did the $600 come from?

(All the other points about the $25 budget, printing, and distribution don't add up either)

I don't think that it's possible. So I don't think that it is a truth.
It doesn't look like truth even in theory. And in the reallity, even if it's true, you can't analize your results anyway. And that means that you can't work with them.

Not so effective anyway, i think, Even being a truth.

I'm not really concerned with the validity (or lack thereof) of his numbers. The method is interesting.

And the drop in income is inevitable. A college loan offer isn't recurring. I think the best thing to do with this idea is take it and come up with some creative ways to expound on it......and I've already got a few theories.

    Stay cool, gents.

This is a solid idea and I've done it, but with business cards.

The secret is to have other offers behind this one and not just rely on this initial low ticket offer to make your money. It should over the printing costs and get people on your buyers list.
